Prep soccer: Catholic downs Williamstown 1-0
VIENNA, W.Va. – Peter Keiser’s goal off a penalty kick with 2-1/2 minutes remaining in regulation proved to be the game-winner as Parkersburg Catholic defeated Williamstown 1-0 at Jackson Park.
The Crusaders, who improved to 14-6-0, dominated the stat sheet after recording 28 shots compared to just seven for Williamstown.
Keiser was one of nine Crusaders recognized on senior night. PCHS will play again on Tuesday in a Class AA/A sectional opener against St. Marys beginning at 7 p.m. in Ravenswood.
Receiving credit for the shutout was PCHS freshman keeper Marijka Lynch-Pastoor, who was rarely tested and only had to make one first-half save. Crusader defenders Daniel Ambrozy, Tully Lynch-Pastoor and Erica Tracewell made things easy for their keeper.
