2 MC athletes named All-Ohio

Marietta College junior forward Wesley Riley was named third team All-Ohio by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association. Riley becomes the first Pioneer to earn All-Ohio honors since 2009.

Riley, a two-time first team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, led Marietta with 13 goals, three assists and 29 total points this season. His 13 goals scored were the most for a Pioneer since Gavin Reed tallied 14 goals in 2000. Riley’s 29 points was the most productive season since Carlos Recchia recorded 29 points for Marietta in 2005.

Under the direction of first-year head coach Joe Bergin, Marietta finished 4-13-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the OAC. Four of the Pioneers’ losses were in overtime. Marietta graduates seven seniors off of this year’s roster.

Marietta College junior running back Tim Conner was named third team All-Ohio by the OhioCollegeFootball.com Monday afternoon. Conner becomes the first Pioneer to earn All-Ohio honors since current assistant coach Adam Tate was a second team selection in 2010 as a defensive lineman.

Conner, a first team All-Ohio Athletic Conference pick, finished the regular season as the OAC’s second leading rusher averaging 91.3 yards per game. He compiled 913 yards and six touchdowns on 215 carries. Conner ran for a season-high 164 yards and two touchdowns on 23 attempts at Otterbein and had five games in which he rushed for over 100 yards.

The Pioneers, under the direction of first-year head coach Andy Waddle, finished the season 1-9 overall and 1-8 in the OAC.
