Prep boys basketball: Warren routs Gallia

GALLIPOLIS – Evan French scored 26 points as Warren drilled host Gallia Academy 88-39 in Southeastern Ohio Athletic League boys basketball action Friday night.

Michael Hall added 18 points, Blake Kidder chipped in with 11, Reece Patton netted nine, and Andrew Drayer had eight for the Blane Maddox-coached Warriors, who improved their record to 2-0 on the season.

Sixteen royal blue and white cagers saw action and nine of them scored in the varsity game.

Gallia Academy was led by Michael Pitney, who tallied 12 markers.

Sparked by Hall’s four triples in the opening period, Warren staked itself to a 27-9 first-quarter advantage.

At halftime, the Warriors owned a commanding 46-20 lead. After the break, the rout resumed.

Earlier in the week, Warren defeated Meigs 70-35 in Vincent. In that contest, French, a West Liberty recruit, had 15 points.

Warren, an Ohio Division II state tournament participant last season, is scheduled to host Portsmouth in another SEOAL game Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
