Prep basketball: Lady Cadets wallop Warren

BEVERLY – The Liedtke sisters combined for 29 points and the Fort Frye defense limited Warren to just nine first half points as the Lady Cadets rolled to their 11th straight victory with a 44-23 victory over the Lady Warriors.

Megan Liedtke scored a career-high 21 points and Makayla Liedtke added eight as the Cadets improved to 11-1 on the season.

Fort Frye held the Warriors scoreless in the opening period and finished almost as strong as it limited Warren to just three points in the final eight minutes.

The Cadets connected on six triples in the game including three from Megan Liedtke and a pair from Makayla.

Warren (6-5) shot just 20 percent (6-30) in the game while being out rebounded 25-15 by the Fort.

Kendra Lynch led the way for Warren with seven points.

Frontier 45,

Magnolia 41

NEW MATAMORAS -For three quarters visiting Magnolia and Frontier hooked up in a good old good one before the Lady Cougars won the final eight minutes to claim a 45-41, non-conference victory.

The game was tied up at halftime (22-22) and also at the end of three quarters (29-29) before Frontier out scored the Lady Blue Eagles 16-10 in the final period to claim its ninth victory of the season in 12 decisions.

Lexi Brookover led the way for the Scott Murphy-led Cougars as she scored 13 points while also yanking down a team-high seven rebounds. Seniors Corisa Fickiesen and Kelsea Daugherty added 11 points apiece.

Mallory Chapman led the way for Magnolia as she scored a game-high 21 points including 10-of-13 from the charity stripe.

Williamstown 86, Paden City 62

PADEN CITY, W. Va. -The Williamstown Lady Yellowjackets scored at least 20 points in each of the four quarters Monday night as they rolled to an 86-62 victory over the Paden City Lady Wildcats.

Ashley Morris completed a double-double by scoring a team-high 20 points and 10 assists to lead five Lady Jackets in double figures.

Joining Morris in double digits were Bree Ann Reynolds and Cami Mossor with 15 points apiece, while Samantha Dedrick and Melissa Cieslewski chipped in with 14 and 10 points respectively. Myah Charkawi’s 25 points for Paden City led all scorers while Hannah Stanley added 13.

The Yellowjackets, who improved to 7-5 on the season with the win, will return home on Thursday night to host the Parkersburg Catholic Crusaders in a varsity only game scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m.
