Cadets’ defense shuts out ’Noles
Fort Frye 37, Monroe Central 0
WOODSFIELD — Tyler Bradford ran for 125 yards on 11 carries and returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown to lead Fort Frye to a 37-0 victory at Monroe Central Friday.
Tate Engle had 71 passing yards and ran for a 1-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the game. He later hit Tyler Fisher for a 5-yard touchdown strike. Fisher tallied 84 yards on 15 carries and had 40 yards on three catches. Evan Schob chipped in 82 yards and a 4-yard TD on 13 rushes.
The Cadets not only shut out Monroe Central’s offense, but limited the ‘Noles to just 46 total yards. Ryan LaFollette led the way for the hosts with 36 yards on nine carries.
Fort Frye capped its win with a Caden Fryman 1-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Shenandoah 28, Cameron 12
CAMERON, W.Va. — Shenandoah knocked off W.Va. Class A No. 7 Cameron, 28-12, Friday to improve to a perfect 5-0 on the 2017 season.
Nick Miller, the area’s leading rusher, went for 165 yards on 27 carries while Boone Jones added 55 yards on seven totes.
Jones also passed for 121 yards on 10 of 22 attempts. He connected with Hunter Graham on touchdown passes of 15 and 37 yards and also hit Kendal Sherman on a 10-yard strike.
Graham finished with 87 yards on seven receptions.
Crooksville 32, Morgan 7
McCONNELSVILLE — Visiting Crooksville scored the final 24 points Friday to rout host Morgan 32-7.
Wes Pauley’s 5-yard touchdown run with 1:38 left in the first quarter to make it 8-7, but that was all the Raiders could muster offensively.
Pauley went over the 100-yard mark, finishing with 103 yards on 16 totes. Quarterback Dakota Leopold went 11 for 19 for 75 yards.
Crooksville QB Landon Hinkle was the player of the game, rushing for 115 yards and passing for 166 more and accounting for all four of the Ceramnics’ touchdowns. Caden Miller added 65 rushing yards on eight carries.
Southern 41, Belpre 14
RACINE, Ohio — Southern bolted out to a 20-0 lead after one and went on to post a 41-14 victory here Friday night versus visiting Belpre.
Dylan Smith had three touchdown runs to lead Southern (4-1), which saw its lead shrink to 20-14 at 7:24 of the second after Isaac Tullius’ 36-yard jaunt to paydirt and Logan Adams’ 8-yard TD run.
However, Smith’s 15-yard score made it 27-14 at intermission and Belpre (2-3) didn’t score again.
Smith finished with game-highs of 29 rushes and 187 yards while teammate Brody Dutton (15-109) also found the end zone.
Brandon Simoniette (7-50) and Tullius (7-48) led the Golden Eagle ground attack.
