Tigers make All-ECOL teams

Marietta High’s fall sports teams were well represented on the All-East Central Ohio League teams released Monday.

Senior Meredith Coil was named ECOL Player of the Year in tennis. Coil went undefeated in regular season No. 1 singles play. She was honored on the first team along with teammate Maggie Gottfried. Fellow Tiger Lyndsey Marshall was an honorable mention pick. MHS went 3-5 in ECOL matches.

In volleyball, junior Natalie Brooks was a first team honoree for the Tigers. Brooks was the team leader in kills this season and helped guide the Tigers to a 7-7 league record. Teammate Morgan Connolly was a second teamer while Hannah Kroft was honorable mention.

In girls soccer, Marietta had two first teamers in juniors Lexie Mullen and Brooke Heiss. Mullen was the Tigers’ leading goal scorer while goalkeeper Heiss had a tremendous season between the pipes. Freshman Courtney Schuck was named to the second team while senior Emily Mendenhall was an honorable mention selection.

On the boys side, senior Austyn Chen was a first team honoree for the Tigers. Chen scored 27 goals this season, one goal short of Marietta’s single-season record. Sophomore Jake Craven was a second team honoree for MHS, while classmate Sean Fournier was named honorable mention.
