Belpre girls down Wahama

BELPRE — Kyanna Ray scored 17 points and Sydney Spencer added 12 on four 3-pointers as Belpre defeated Wahama 59-48 Thursday.

The Golden Eagles, now 13-5 overall, led 17-14 after one quarter and 34-25 at halftime.

They outscored Wahama 17-10 in the third to take a 51-35 advantage into the final period.

Belpre also got nine points from Kyna Waderker and six apiece from Abbey LaFatch and Kaitlin Richards.

Wahama was led by Hannah Rose’s 17 points. Emma Gibbs added 12 while Harley Roush netted 11.

Belpre is back in action Monday when it plays host to Miller.

Williamstown 68, Ritchie County 39

ELLENBORO, W.Va. — Williamstown used a 14-2 run to close out the final three minutes of the first half here Thursday night and then rolled to a 68-39 win at Ritchie County.

Ritchie County, now 7-10 with a road game Tuesday at Ripley, trailed just 20-16 before falling behind 34-18 at intermission.

Taylor Newton (13), Mara Rinehart (12) and Jenna Pridemore (11) had double figure scoring efforts for WHS, which also got eight points and nine rebounds from Bethany Arnold.

The Rebels were paced by Ashley Davis with 11 points.

WHS (12-4) is off until Marietta comes to town on Wednesday.

Tyler Consolidated 67, St. Marys 57

ST. MARYS — Peyton Kocher became the school’s all-time leading 3-point shooter here Thursday night as she drained five triples en route to a game-high 25 points during Tyler Consolidated’s 67-57 road win at St. Marys.

Kocher hit all of her 3s in the first half and tallied 19 of her markers prior to intermission.

St. Marys, now 7-8 with a road trip Saturday afternoon to Tolsia for a WVHIT contest, was outscored 39-20 in the middle two quarters. Addie Furr led the Blue Devils with 23 points, five assists and as many steals.

Josey Jones added 18 points, Laura Templeton tallied a baker’s dozen while JoLee Walton chipped in eight counters for the 9-8 Silver Knights, who play Tuesday at Wirt County.

Kylie Wright netted 13 counters in the setback.
