Guilty verdict in murder trial

A Washington County jury today returned a verdict of guilty on all counts in the murder trial of Charles “Chuckie” Wayne Loy, 43, of 203 Duncan Drive, New Matamoras.

Loy shot and killed Frederick “Fred” Uselton, 50, of New Matamoras, in the early morning hours of Aug. 28 while Uselton was in bed lying next to the two men’s shared girlfriend, Janet Dawn Shaw, 43, of New Matamoras.

Loy was found guilty of two counts of aggravated murder, and one count of murder, all unscheduled felonies. He was also found guilty of two counts of aggravated burglary, both second-degree felonies, and one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. The jury deliberated for less than one hour.

Loy’s sentencing is scheduled for April 14 at 11 a.m. in Washington County Common Pleas Judge Mark Kerenyi’s court.

Loy will be held without bond in anticipation of sentencing. He could face up to life in prison without parole.
