4 killed in car struck by pickup truck at Ohio intersection
ASHTABULA, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say four people inside a car struck by a pickup truck that failed to stop at an intersection have died in northeast Ohio.
The accident occurred late Friday in Ashtabula. The State Highway Patrol has identified the victims as 18-year-old Giovanni Miller, 19-year-old Anastiasa Smith, their 22-month-old son, Giovanni Miller, and 47-year-old Michelle Hommes, all of Ashtabula. They died at the crash site.
The patrol says in a statement the 48-year-old Ashtabula man driving the pickup truck received minor injuries. His pickup hit a utility pole and a tree after the accident.
The statement says alcohol or drugs appear to be a factor. No one was available at the patrol’s Ashtabula post Saturday morning to say whether the pickup truck driver was arrested or how fast he was driving.
