Man arrested in connection with body found burning in park
UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio (AP) — Police say a man has been arrested in connection with a body found burning in a park in Ohio.
A statement from police in the Columbus suburb of Upper Arlington says 27-year-old Mohamed Abdullahi was arrested Monday on arson and corpse abuse charges in connection with the body of 23-year-old Bobbie Renee Simpson. Authorities said firefighters found Simpson’s body after extinguishing a blaze in Burbank Park on Oct. 14.
The Franklin County Coroner’s Office says there was trauma to Simpson’s body before it was placed in a container and set on fire. The cause of death hasn’t been determined.
Police say Abdullahi was arrested during a traffic stop and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Court records don’t show an attorney for the Columbus man.
