68th: Bradley and Jean Alloway

Bradley and Jean Alloway are celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary.

They were married on June 26, 1948 at Greenup, Kentucky Baptist Parsonage, officiated by the Rev. Edwin H. Kentner officiated.

Alloway is the son of the late Charles and Kathinka Alloway of New Matamoras. Mrs. Alloway is the daughter of the late Charles and Alice Bowser of Rinard Mills.

They have two children, Steven (Cheryl) Alloway of Roseville, Ohio, and Patricia (Don) D’Angelo of Grove City.

There are eight grandchildren, Theresea Alloway of Marietta, Christopher (Arnell) Alloway of Humble, Texas, Matthew (Janel) Alloway of Clintonville, Ohio, Erin Alloway of Byesville, Ben (Megan) D’Angelo of Grove City, Craig (Daisy) D’Angelo of Orient, Denise (Art) Steele of Grove City, and Julie (Will) Neff of Grove City.

There are 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, Chloe and Cole Barberry of McConnelsville.

Bradley was a partner in the Alloway Firm, Oil and Gas of New Matamoras until 1964. The other partners retired, so he went to work for Ohio River Sand and Gravel of New Martinsville, W.Va., as a welder. Advancing to superintendent, he resigned to take a job with Price Inland Terminal as general manager in 1972. Retiring in 1992, he was given a 12-day trip to Hawaii (ala carte) they visited all four islands. Bradley spent 30 years working on the Ohio River. Not satisfied with retirement, he went to work for Haessly Hardwood Lumber of Marietta for 10 years as a truck driver.

Jean was a stay-at-home mom until Patty was in nursing school. She went to work at Lilly’s Crown Jewelers of New Martinsville, W.Va., as a sales associate. She worked for 10 years.

They are both active in their church, Center Valley Baptist Church at Leith Run. Bradley has been a member for 77 years. Jean, a member for 59 years. Bradley serves as a deacon and trustee. Jean retired in April, after 58 years serving in the Women’s Missions. She serves where needed, knowing there’s no retiring in the Lord’s work.
