Belpre Farmers Castle to hold Hineman book sale

From staff reports

Books collected over the lifetime of the late Rod Hineman will be offered for sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas Annex of the Belpre Farmers Castle and Education Center.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the museum at 509 Ridge St.

“Rod collected hundreds of books over his lifetime, he would go to auctions and buy boxes full of books. His family has generously donated his collection to the museum. He loved history and his collection includes many history books, and he loved our museum,” said Charlotte Powell, museum curator and president of the Belpre Historical Society.

The volumes cover a variety of topics including history, photography, gardening, Elvis Presley, novels and numerous volumes on history.

He was president of the Belpre Area Community Foundation, treasurer of the Belpre Historical Society, Belpre City Council president in the 1980s, a member of the Belpre Jaycees, active in his church and was a husband, father and grandfather.
