Recycling center closed for flood prep

Effective today, the Marietta Area Recycling Center will be temporarily closing for flood preparation and will stay closed until the waters recede. The center will be relocating to higher ground, the paper, cardboard and green glass trailers and totes will be caged and removed.

The MARC requests that the public and businesses hold all recyclables until after flood waters recede. For updates on site status go to the MARC website at http://mariettareycling.org/

County garden clubs to meet March 8

Washington County Garden Clubs will meet at 10 a.m. March 8 at the Barlow Public Library. At noon there will be a potluck luncheon. The semi-annual Washington County meeting is of Belpre Garden Club, Barlow Bluebells, Little Hocking and Muskingum Garden Club. There will be discussion of planning for the Washington County Fair Flower Show. Anyone interested in gardening is invited to attend

‘SHREK the Musical’ at MHS auditorium

Marietta City Schools will be presenting “SHREK the Musical” in the Marietta High School Auditorium. The show dates are 7 p.m. March 2 and 3 and 2 p.m. March 4. Tickets are general admission and are $10 per person. Tickets are available for sale one hour prior to the show or presale tickets may be purchased from 5 to 7 p.m. in the auditorium lobby Monday-Wednesday.

Beverly Eagles’ fish fry served today

The Beverly Eagles will hold all-you-can-eat fish fry at 5:30 p.m. today. The cost is $8. There will be music by Sam Clark and Tyler Welch. For carry-out, call 740-984-4733.

Tiger Navy to serve breakfast fundraiser

The Marietta Tiger Navy/Harmar Rowing Club will serve all-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee and milk from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at UNDO’s Restaurant in Marietta. The cost is $5 per person.

Cross stitchers to meet Wed. at Beverly

There will be a meeting of local cross stitchers at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Beverly Library. Bring the projects you are working on. Or if you are interested in learning about the ancient craft, come and learn how.

There will be a beginner project available.
