Women’s camp

to be held July 13-15

The Washington-Morgan Counties Women’s Camp will be held from 4 p.m. July 13 to 1 p.m. July 15 at Camp Hervida in Waterford. The theme this year is “Cruise Away To Hervida” where women 18 or older can enjoy crafts, swimming, good food and lots of fun.

Marietta board plans orientation meeting

The Marietta City school district will have an orientation meeting at 10 a.m. Monday to discuss board directives. The regular June board of education meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Both meetings will be held at the board of education office at 111 Academy Drive.

Dedication for Gold Star monument

The Gold Star Family Memorial Monument will be officially dedicated at the Gold Star Park (formerly Lookout Park) in Marietta at 11 a.m. Saturday. The unveiling of the permanent Gold Star Family Memorial Monument is to honor Gold Star Families, Gold Star Children and relatives, who have sacrificed a loved one in the service of the country. The event is open to the public. Hershel Woody Williams, recipient of our Nation’s highest award, the Medal of Honor, will speak at the event. Williams is the sole surviving Marine from WWII to wear the Medal of Honor.

Fair Board plans

June 30 celebration

The Washington County Fair Board is having an Independence Day Celebration June 30 at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Mineral Wells ATV Rodeo and Drag will be at 4 p.m. and there will be fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5 (2 and under free). Gates open at 1 p.m. There will be concessions and activities for children.

Dairy Queen to hold dog party Saturday

Dairy Queen, 831 Pike St., will hold a dog party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be treats, party games, photos with your dog and a dog photo contest. Guest judge will be Washington County dog warden Kelly McGilton. The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley will be on hand with dogs available for adoption. Fifty percent of gross sales will be donated to HSOV.
