Fort Frye meetings planned this week

There will be a Fort Frye Local Schools Buildings and Grounds Committee meeting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the superintendent’s office located in Beverly-Center Elementary School.

The regular August meeting of the Fort Frye Local Schools Board of Education has been changed to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Beverly-Center Elementary.

Board of Elections

to hold meeting

The Washington County Board of Elections will hold a special meeting at 10 a.m. Sept. 5 at the Board of Elections Office. This meeting is for the approval of poll worker selections for the Nov. 6 General Election, polling location changes and Belpre Kroger Liquor Option petition.

City bow hunting

test is Sept. 8

The test to be eligible to bow hunt in the city limits of Marietta will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 8. This is the only test that will be given.

Strong families

program this month

Family & Children First is sponsoring a fall session of the Strengthening Families 10-14 Program. The program, for parents and youth ages 10-14, is a parent, youth, and family skills-building curriculum designed to build family strengths; strengthen parenting skills; and prevent teen substance abuse and other behavior problems. The seven-week session is free, with dinner and child care provided, along with transportation assistance.

The fall session will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 25 through Nov. 6 at the Ely Chapman Center in Marietta. For more information and to register, call 740-376-7081. Registration is limited.

Family Fun Day Sept. 16 in Marietta

BrAva Family Fun Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 16 at Muskingum Park in Marietta. This celebration is all about local children with cancer. There will be free lunch, bouncy houses, petting zoo, carnival games and so much more. This is free to the community.

The sixth annual “The Gathering Event” will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at Civitan Park. The event is sponsored by Belpre Area Churches. Everything is free — free food, games, music and more.
