MARIETTA — Waterview Pointe on Harmar Hill Wednesday started accepting residents into its renovated 48,000 square foot long- and short-term care facility.

Original built in 1966, the facility at 117 Bartlett St. underwent a multi-million dollar renovation over the last year by new owners, Foundations Health Solutions of Homestead, Ohio. The company operates 56 facilities in Ohio and also has started work on Rockland Ridge on Washington Boulevard in Belpre near Farson Street. It also operates Hickory Creek in Athens.

Waterview Pointe is on 5.2 acres surrounded by residences.

“The community up here is excited about the opening because it is close their homes and families. This is a peaceful neighborhood where everyone watches out for one another,” said Audrea Treadway-Flinn, regional liaison for the company.

The 67-bed facility accepted its first resident Wednesday. Because of COVID-19, all new residents will be quarantined for 14 days, Treadway-Flinn said.

“We are screening everyone that comes into the facility, including families that come in for tours,” she said. “The staff all must wear masks while working, and the patients have the option of wearing them if they want.”

The facility employs 20 employees and will grow to around 70 as more residents join the facility.

With mostly private rooms, the facility is divided into four sections: A 22-bed memory care unit for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s; a pulmonary unit capable of housing 13 patients who require ventilators; A 20-bed short-term care unit; and a long-term unit with 12 private rooms.

Future plans call for the addition of a sensory garden and a chapel garden.

Waterview is certified to accept Medicare and Medicaid residents. The phone number is 740 434-5900.
