The Marietta City School District Board of Education will hold its regular September board meeting at 6 p.m. today. This will be a virtual meeting.
The Board of Directors for the Southeastern Ohio Port Authority will meet beginning at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. The board members of Frontier Local Economic Development Association (FLEDA) have canceled all 2020 regular meetings and the annual meeting due to the pandemic. A schedule for 2021 will be announced in January 2021.
The Sternwheel Festival 5K originally scheduled for Sept. 26 is canceled. The event has been rescheduled for May 29, 2021.
The annual Young Engineers and Scientists Days (YES Days) originally scheduled for October at Washington State Community College for 800 area seventh grade students has been postponed. The event will resume when it is safe to do so.
The Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department has canceled the Reverse Drawing Fundraiser for October 2020 due to COVID-19.
Relay for Life of Washington County will honor those who have battled breast cancer Oct. 2 from 5-9 p.m. at the Marietta Armory. There will be a Luminaria display with the opportunity to purchase a Luminary in honor of a loved one who has passed from cancer or is a cancer survivor. Guests are asked to adhere to local and state health guidelines and requirements for distancing, masks, and sanitation as well as requests by individual businesses downtown with occupancy.
Marietta Friends of the Library will host a used paperback sale Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. outdoors at the library annex, 615 Fifth St., Marietta. Only paperbacks will be available. Price for trade paperbacks is 75 cents each, regular paperbacks will be offered at 75 cents each or three for $1. Rain date will be Oct. 10.
The Little Muskingum Vol. Fire Dept. will hold a takeout only fish fry Oct. 4 at noon at the firehouse. All dinners will cost $10 each.
St. Mary Catholic School will host a fish fry to-go from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 9. Meals cost $10 and include fried fish, french fries, green beans and coleslaw. Drive thru service only. Enter through Marion or Muskingum alley entrances. No call ahead orders.
The Little Muskingum Watershed Association Annual Fall Tour originally scheduled for Oct. 10-11 has been canceled.
Wes Clarke, archaeologist at The Castle, will provide a tour of Marietta Mounds Oct. 17 from noon to 2 p.m. and from 2:30-4:30 p.m. The tour includes Conus at Mound Cemetery, the Capitolium, Quadranaou and Sacra Via. Cost is $10. Reservations are required via online registration or by calling 740-373-4180. On-site and cash payments will not be accepted. Masks are required and 6 feet social distancing is mandatory.
Greenbrier United Methodist Church’s Annual Homecoming originally scheduled for Oct. 18 has been rescheduled for Oct. 17, 2021.
The Pioneer Ladies Civitan Club has canceled the Style Show originally scheduled for Oct. 20 due to the current conditions. The next Style Show will be held Oct. 19, 2021.
The Parkersburg Coin Club will host a coin show from 10 a.m.to 3 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Boaz Lion’s Club, 315 Valley Manor Lane, off of Route 14; signs will be posted at the intersection. Dealers will be available to buy, sell, and trade coins and precious metals. Admission is $1 which enters attendees in hourly door prize drawings. The Zonta Club of the Mid-Ohio Valley has canceled its Fall Unique Boutique Clothing Sale originally scheduled for November due to Coronavirus concerns. Washington Electric Cooperative member-consumers in the areas of Highland Ridge, Caywood, Stanleyville, Bear Creek, and Arends Ridge/State Route 60 in Washington County will experience a power outage Sept. 29. The outage will begin at approximately 8 a.m. and is expected to last two hours while crews transfer load to the new Highland Ridge substation.
