Meetings

¯ The Operations Committee of the Warren Local Board of Education will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday. The Committee will tour the bus garage facility at 4 p.m. The October regular meeting of the Warren Local Board of Education has been moved to 6 p.m. Oct. 26. Both meetings will be held at the Warren Local Administration Office, 220 Sweetapple Road, Vincent.

¯ The Marietta City School District Board of Education will hold its regular October board meeting at 6 p.m. Monday. This will be a virtual meeting.

¯ Trustees of Ludlow Township will hold its regular October meeting at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the town hall.

¯ Area 15 Workforce Development Board Members from Monroe, Morgan, Noble and Washington Counties will hold a meeting from 9-11 a.m. Nov. 2. The Boards of County Commissioners from Monroe, Morgan, Noble, and Washington Counties will hold an Area 15 Council of Governments Meeting to follow at noon. Both meetings will be held virtually. ¯ The board of the Frontier Local Economic Development Association canceled all 2020 regular meetings and the annual meeting due to the pandemic. A schedule for 2021 will be announced in January 2021.

Events

¯ The Parkersburg Coin Club will sponsor its 47th annual Fall Coin Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Boaz Lions Club, 315 Valley Manor Lane (off Route 14), Boaz. Admission is $1 and children under 12 are admitted free. Hourly door prizes. For more information, call 304-580-0521.

¯ Palmer Township Trick or Treat will be held from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 30.

¯ Beverly United Methodist Church will host Trunk or Treat from 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 31 in the back parking lot, located at 700 Park St., Beverly.

¯ Marietta Family YMCA will hold a drive-thru Trick or Treat Pick Up from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Sealed individual goodie bags will be given out. The YMCA is located in Complex 1, Building 3 of Broughton Business Park, 635-B State Route 821. For more information, call 740-663-1041.

¯ The annual Oliver Tucker Museum Antique Appraisal originally scheduled for Oct. 31 at Waterford Elementary School has been canceled for 2020.

¯ The annual Young Engineers and Scientists Days (YES Days) originally scheduled for October at Washington State Community College for 800 area seventh grade students has been postponed. The event will resume when it is safe to do so.

¯ The Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department has canceled the Reverse Drawing Fundraiser for October 2020 due to COVID-19.

¯ Dale UM Church has canceled its Annual November Turkey/Ham Dinner due to COVID-19. Donations are appreciated. Those able to help support the church this year are asked to send a donation of any amount to: Dale UM Church, c/o Treasurer Marvin Ross, 4610 State Route 676, Stockport, OH 43787. The Annual Chicken/Ham Dinner is scheduled for spring 2021.

¯ An Election Day Luncheon will be held starting at 11 a.m. Nov. 3 in the Matamoras Emergency Squad Room, 800 Grandview Ave., New Matamoras. Menu includes sausage sandwiches for $3, chili for $3, chips for 50 cents, and beverages for $1. Safety measures will be followed. ¯ The Beverly United Methodist Church at 700 Park St. will hold its annual Election Day Dinner from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 3. The menu will include turkey with all the trimmings. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. It will be carry-out only due to COVID-19. Drive up to the portico at the church and the meal will be brought out. ¯ First Congregational Church Annual Baked Steak Dinner will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. Nov. 7. Drive-through; limited pre-orders only. Meals will cost $10 and include baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, a roll and dessert. Cash or check at the time of pick-up. To reserve a meal, call 740-373-0741 Nov. 6 before noon.

¯ The Zonta Club of the Mid-Ohio Valley has canceled its Fall Unique Boutique Clothing Sale originally scheduled for November due to Coronavirus concerns. ¯ The O’Neill Center will host a virtual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 5. Various vendors will be featured on an exclusive Facebook page and the event will be streamed live via Facebook and Zoom. Vendors will also be donating items for a raffle. For more information, call 740-373-3914.

¯ The Salem Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. is selling tickets as a fundraiser for the following: Browning Primal 23 Gun Safe, 110 Storm 6.5 Creed (red, white, and blue edition), Ruger American 350 Ldg, Glock 19 Gen 5 American edition, Remington 870 express 20 ga/26“, Mossberg 930 3” 12 ga/28″, and a $250 gift card. Classes/Workshops/Programs/Seminars

¯ The Castle Historic House Museum will hold a virtual Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 14 via Zoom. The cost for the workshop with a complete kit is $20. The cost for the virtual workshop with instruction booklet is $12.50 and the cost for the instruction booklet and kit without participating in the workshop is $15. Miscellaneous

¯ Two brief power outages affecting Washington Electric Cooperative members in the Churchtown area will take place today and Oct. 26.

The outages will begin at 8 a.m. and are expected to last less than 30 minutes to allow for transmission line repairs.

¯ As part of the Marietta Community Foundation’s nonprofit challenge, the O’Neill and Belpre Senior Centers will be collecting new, unwrapped toys Nov. 2-Nov. 16. The toys will be donated to the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Drop off toys starting Nov. 2 at 333 Fourth St., Marietta, or 1614 Washington Blvd., Belpre. ¯ Our Lady of Mercy CWC is currently taking orders for homemade chicken pies, noodles and angel food cakes through Nov. 8. Frozen chicken pies are $12 each; noodles are $6 per bag and are available in wide or narrow width; angel food cakes are $5 each. ¯ Tickets for Hervida 4-H Camp Annual Building Fund Drawing are currently available and the drawing will be held virtually Nov. 14. There will not be a dinner and silent auction. Tickets are $35 and are available at the OSU Extension Office at 202 Davis Ave., Marietta, or from a camp board member by calling 740-376-7431.

¯ The O’Neill Center is taking donations for a tree that will be part of Marietta Main Street’s Holiday Tree Walk in Muskingum Park Nov. 27 through Jan. 9. For $10, donors can choose to order an ornament, handmade by staff and senior crafters.
