Ohio Valley ESC Treasurer’s Office recognized by the state
Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber recently personally recognized the Ohio Valley Educational Service Center’s Treasurer and fiscal department for its dedication to fiscal responsibility and transparency by presenting them with the Ohio Auditor of State Award. He visited its Cambridge office to present the award on September 3.
A recent financial audit of the Ohio Valley Educational Service Center by Auditor of State Keith Faber’s office has returned a clean audit report. The award recognizes excellence in financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting principles and compliance with applicable laws.
This is the tenth consecutive fiscal year that the Ohio Valley ESC has received a clean audit and this award, earning the award every year since its inception. Megan Atkinson, CPA, has served as the Treasurer of the Ohio Valley ESC for the past eleven years. The fiscal office also includes fiscal assistant for budgetary, Carol McConnell and fiscal assistant for payroll, Amy Buchtel.
The Ohio Valley ESC serves school districts and career centers within Guernsey, Monroe, Noble and Washington counties by providing preschool services, special education services and other school support services. It most recently has launched its Blue Sky Virtual Academy, helping to serve the students of the area virtually amid the recent pandemic.
“The fiscal department under the leadership of Megan Atkinson works diligently to ensure board approved policies and procedures are followed. They are the ultimate professionals making sure public funds are used appropriately and according to state and federal rules.
The OVESC team is better off because of our tremendous fiscal department,” says Andrew Brooks, Ohio Valley Educational Service Center’s Superintendent.
