¯ A Fort Frye Board of Education Policy Committee will meet 10 a.m. Dec. 3 at Beverly Center Elementary School, 510 Fifth St., Beverly.

Thanksgiving dinner

¯ Norwood United Methodist Church will hold its Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. This meal is take-out only. Attendees are asked to wear a mask and social distance. Delivery available; contactless delivery may be requested. Walk-ups welcome at noon and vehicles must enter the alley from Vine Street. Closed offices

¯ The Marietta City Treasurer and Income Tax Office will close at noon today to celebrate Thanksgiving and will reopen 8 a.m. Monday.

Road repairs

¯ A bridge deck repair project will begin Dec. 7 on the on-ramp bridge between Ohio 7 South and U.S. Route 50 (inside the City of Belpre). The ramp will be closed. ODOT’s detour is Ohio 7 to Ohio 618 to U.S. Route 50. Estimated date of completion is Dec. 18.

Appraisal

¯ Washington County Auditor Matthew Livengood has begun the process of a state-mandated reappraisal of all properties. There will be appraisers visiting properties throughout the county through the end of 2021. New values resulting from the reappraisal will go into effect Jan. 1, 2023, and will be payable on the 2024 tax bills. Christmas in Village

¯ Barlow Presbyterian Church will participate in Christmas in the Village from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 5. Items for sale will include homemade cookies by the dozen, jars of spiced tea mix, homemade mincemeat, wood crafts and material items. Barlow Presbyterian Church is located at Warrior Drive and Ohio 550.

Junior Fair Boards

¯ All youth interested in serving on the 2021 Washington County and/or Barlow Junior Fair Boards are asked to apply now. Applications are available through the OSU Extension Office, and go.osu.edu/wcforms. Must be at least 13 years old. The deadline for applications is Monday. First- and second-year applicants must be interviewed to serve on a Junior Fair Board. Interviews are Dec. 7. For more information, call 740-376-7431.

Castle events

¯ The Castle will host a virtual Christmas Pudding Cooking Class 7-8 p.m. Tuesday. Walk through the steps of making a traditional steamed Christmas pudding and learn the history behind this bygone holiday tradition. Cost of registration is $5.

¯ The Castle will host a Crafting Historical Holiday Ornaments Workshop 7-8 p.m. Dec. 9 via an interactive Zoom meeting. This virtual workshop is free. Donations are encouraged.

¯ The Castle will virtually present a Victorian Holiday Punch Class 7-8 p.m. Dec. 16. Brian Cushing of Historic Locust Grove in Kentucky will show how to create this cocktail from home while sharing the background behind historical holiday punches. Encouraged audience age 21 and older. This class is free. Donations are encouraged.
