Meetings

• Independence Township trustees will hold a regular monthly meeting today at 6 p.m. at the townhouse on Upper Archers Fork Road.

• The Highland Ridge Water annual meeting will be held today at 7 p.m. at the water office, 1330 Highland Ridge Road. All members are welcome to attend. For more information, call 740-376-0337.

• Reno Water and Sewer District will hold a regularly scheduled monthly meeting Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at the water office, 170 Mount Tom Road.

All are welcome. Social distancing will be practiced because of COVID-19.

• The board of the Frontier Local Economic Development Association canceled all 2020 regular meetings and the annual meeting due to the pandemic. A schedule for 2021 will be announced in January 2021.

Events

• Christ United Methodist Church at 301 Wooster St., Marietta, will offer free take-out only meals Nov. 6 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

• The Pleasant Hill UM Church will host its annual turkey dinner Nov. 7 beginning at 4 p.m. The dinner will be curbside pickup. Dinner will include turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and dessert. To order ahead, call 740-473-2792; ordering ahead of time is optional and not required.

• First Congregational Church Annual Baked Steak Dinner will be held Nov. 7 from 4:30-6 p.m. Drive-through; limited pre-orders only. Meals will cost $10 and include baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, a roll and dessert. Cash or check at the time of pick-up. To reserve a meal, call 740-373-0741 Nov. 6 before noon.

• The Bethel Community Center will host a fish fry Nov. 7. Serving begins at 4:30 p.m. and meals cost $10. Drive thru take-out only. All proceeds benefit Bethel Community Center, located at the intersection of State Route 260 and State Route 537 in Marr. For more information, call 740-934-9591.

• Macksburg United Methodist Church will hold a baked steak and pork tenderloin dinner Nov. 12. Serving begins at 3 p.m. Meals are carry-out only and the cost is $8. The dinner is sponsored by Macksburg United Methodist Women to help offset expenses at the church and provide local missions.

• St. Mary Catholic School will host a Fish Fry To-Go Nov. 13 from 5-7 p.m. Meals are $10 and include fried fish, french fries, green beans, and coleslaw. Drive thru service only; no call ahead orders. Enter through Marion or Muskingum alley entrances.

• River Cities Symphony will present a free virtual performance by clarinetist Chris Bowmaster, violinist Raquel Ravaglioli, and pianist Marie Mallory Nov. 15 beginning at 3 p.m. To view the concert, visit facebook.com/rivercitiessymphony

• Lowell American Legion will host a steak fry Nov. 21. Phone orders begin at 4 p.m. by calling 740-896-3326. Serving from 5-8 p.m.; seating very limited. Carry-out requested. Meals include steak, baked steak, chicken or no meat, and salad with dressing, a baked potato, and a roll. Signs will be posted for pick-up.

• Dale UM Church has canceled its Annual November Turkey/Ham Dinner due to COVID-19. Donations are appreciated. The Annual Chicken/Ham Dinner is scheduled for spring 2021.

• The Zonta Club of the Mid-Ohio Valley has canceled its Fall Unique Boutique Clothing Sale originally scheduled for November due to Coronavirus concerns. All clothing donations can be made at the Spring Sale in 2021. Those who would like to make a monetary donation to the club to help with service projects can mail checks to: Zonta Club of MOV P.O. • The O’Neill Center will host a virtual craft fair Dec. 5 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Various vendors will be featured on an exclusive Facebook page and the event will be streamed live via Facebook and Zoom. Vendors will also be donating items for a raffle. For more information, call 740-373-3914.

• The Salem Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. is selling tickets as a fundraiser for the following: Browning Primal 23 Gun Safe, 110 Storm 6.5 Creed (red, white, and blue edition), Ruger American 350 Ldg, Glock 19 Gen 5 American edition, Remington 870 express 20 ga/26“, Mossberg 930 3” 12 ga/28″, and a $250 gift card. Classes/Workshops/Programs/Seminars

• The Castle Historic House Museum will hold a virtual Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop Nov. 14 from 10 a.m.-noon via Zoom. The cost for the workshop with a complete kit is $20. The cost for the virtual workshop with instruction booklet is $12.50 and the cost for the instruction booklet and kit without participating in the workshop is $15. • As part of the Marietta Community Foundation’s nonprofit challenge, the O’Neill and Belpre Senior Centers will be collecting new, unwrapped toys Nov. 2-Nov. 16. The toys will be donated to the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Drop off toys starting Nov. 2 at 333 Fourth St., Marietta, or 1614 Washington Blvd., Belpre. • Washington County 4-H will be participating in Marietta Community Foundation’s nonprofit challenge by collecting new, unwrapped toys through Nov. 17. The toys will be donated to the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Drop off toys to the Extension Office at 202 Davis Ave, Marietta by Nov. 17 at noon. For more information, call 740-376-7431.

• Our Lady of Mercy CWC is currently taking orders for homemade chicken pies, noodles, and angel food cakes through Nov. 8. Frozen chicken pies are $12 each; noodles are $6 per bag and are available in wide or narrow width; angel food cakes are $5 each. • Tickets for Hervida 4-H Camp Annual Building Fund Drawing are currently available and the drawing will be held virtually Nov. 14. There will not be a dinner and silent auction. • The O’Neill Center is taking donations for a tree that will be part of Marietta Main Street’s Holiday Tree Walk in Muskingum Park Nov. 27-Jan. 9. For $10, donors can choose to order an ornament, handmade by staff and senior crafters. Deadline to place an order is Nov. 2.
