Plan for Black Friday with inserts
PARKERSBURG– The Parkersburg News and Sentinel and The Marietta Times will continue a tradition and offer the advertising inserts in the Thanksgiving Day edition for sale on Wednesday.
Thursday’s newspaper is stuffed more than a Thanksgiving turkey with advertisements that include substantial savings, coupons and special offers from numerous businesses in Parkersburg, Vienna, Marietta, Belpre and the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Inserts are $5 a pack with no limit on the number of packs that customers can purchase, said Phil Waterman, circulation director for The News and Sentinel and The Times.Packs will be sold from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at two locations in Parkersburg and in Marietta, Waterman said.
In Parkersburg, insert packs will be sold in the parking lot adjacent to The News and Sentinel, he said.
In Marietta, the inserts will be available in the parking of Stacey’s Dance Studio at 205 Pike St., Waterman said. Like everything else, health and safety precautions are being taken because of the pandemic this year, Waterman said.
All requirements for masking and social distancing will be followed, he said.
“We’re going to ask that people don’t get out of their cars,” Waterman said. “We’re also encouraging people to be masked when stopping.”
Stores with inserts are:
≤ Holiday Gift Guide
≤ JC Penney
≤ Value City Furniture
≤ Ashley Furniture
≤ Big Lots
≤ Shoe Carnival
≤ Rite Aid
≤ Rural King
≤ Big Lots
The newspapers have offered the early-bird sale of inserts for several years, an event that has become among the more popular of holiday traditions.
Shoppers prefer to know where the sales and promotions will be ahead of time so they can determine their Christmas shopping strategy before the stores open, bringing order into what could otherwise be a chaotic undertaking.
“This allows people to navigate a more challenging shopping scenario this year,” Waterman said. “You can plan your trips more effeciently when you already know where you want to go.”
