Two pieces of property in Belpre recently acquired
BELPRE — Two parcels of property in Belpre, including the Washington Square Shopping Center, have been recently bought, but the plans for each remain uncertain.
Recent land transfer records in Washington County show four parcels, located near Advanced Auto on Washington Boulevard, were sold for $1.373 million in late October.
The buyer was listed as NS Retail Holdings LLC, 5910 North Central Expressway Suite 1600, Dallas, Texas.
Messages left at that office were not returned.
Belpre Mayor Mike Lorentz and Belpre Chamber of Commerce President Karen Waller have not heard anything specific in regards to plans for those properties.
On Nov. 13, the Washington Square Shopping Center, located at 1802 and 1804-1818 Washington Blvd. was sold by Washington Square LLC to Jetlag LLC for $1.6 million.
Jetlag LLC is the same company that owns the Chase Bank building in downtown Marietta where the branch recently closed.
According to the Washington County Auditor’s website, the registered agent for Jetlag is Abraham Sellers with an office in Marietta as an attorney with Thiesen Brock LPA.
A phone message left at his office was not returned.
Washington Square is currently the home to Belpre Aquarium, the Dragon House Chinese Restaurant, Black Dog Reserve, Unicorn Wine Guild Winery and Tea room, Peddler’s Junction, H&R Block and Holiday Hair as well as the former Coffee Cup/Belrock Diner restaurant and a number of empty storefronts, including one that once housed a Kroger store years ago.
Waller did not know anything specific about that deal or the people involved.
Lorentz said he has known about the sale of Washington Square for a while and has been limited on what he could say.
At this point, he said the new owners are expected to make an announcement soon about their intentions for the property the mayor said.
“I can say that it will be good for the city,” Lorentz said.
