Wood County Commission names Tebay again in race

PARKERSBURG — Robert Tebay will serve another term as a Wood County Commissioner.

The Republican incumbent faced and defeated David Foggin, a non-partisan candidate, according to the unofficial results from Tuesday’s general election.

On Tuesday evening, Tebay was leading with 25,696 votes to 9,355 votes for Foggin in the unofficial tally of all 68 precincts in Wood County.

Tebay, 85, a local businessman with a number of rental properties, has served on commission for 18 years with two consecutive terms and then one term off and again for the last six years. He resides in the Lubeck area.

”I am pleased to be elected again,” Tebay said. ”I wanted to thank the voters. The people took their responsibility seriously. This has been one of the best elections we have had.”

He thanked everyone who made this election possible from the poll workers and everyone who made sure the election went off without a hitch.

Tebay said the immediate priority is for everyone to get out of the COVID-19 pandemic, whether through a vaccine or other treatment, so businesses can start up again, other businesses can be brought to the area and more people can get back to work.

When a treatment is ready, he feels the county needs to take a lead in setting up ways for local people to receive it.

He credits the elected officials and department heads in helping to keep employees safe and healthy.

Once that is done, he looks forward to encouraging business development as the commission has regularly done over the years

In doing the job of commissioner, Tebay said he tries to respond to people’s questions and concerns.

”Good things are happening in Wood County and good things are coming,” Tebay said.
