¯ The Marietta City School District Board of Education will hold a special board meeting virtually at 5 p.m. today. The public is asked to join the meeting on Facebook Live. A link will be provided on the district website. Items to be discussed include: 2021 consolidation update, Marietta Middle School roof, bus routing software and resolutions for levy options for the district.

¯ The Washington County Family & Children First Council Meeting will be held virtually at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Those wishing to participate virtually are asked to contact Cindy Davis at fcfc@suddenlinkmail.com or call 740-376-7081.

¯ The Frontier Local School Board of Education will hold its January regular meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Frontier High Middle School Media Center.

¯ The Ohio Valley Educational Service Center Governing Board will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lori’s Restaurant, 17020 McConnelsville Road, Caldwell.

¯ The Learning, Instruction and Assessment Committee of the Warren Local Board of Education will meet at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at Warren Middle School, 70 Warrior Drive, Vincent.

¯ The Operations Committee of the Warren Local Board of Education will meet at 4 p.m. Feb. 16. The regular Board meeting will follow at 5 p.m. and begin with a working session to review and discuss the operational and capital budget items for the upcoming fiscal year. The regular monthly business meeting of the Board will begin at 6 p.m. All meetings will be held at the Warren Administration Office, 220 Sweetapple Road, Vincent.


¯ First Congregational United Church of Christ will hold a Covid-19 Memorial observance beginning at 5:15 p.m. today. One hundred tea lights will adorn the front steps of the church and chimes will play for fifteen minutes. The public is invited to attend observing socially distant precautions. ¯ Knights of Columbus 4617 in Churchtown, Ohio will sell take-out meals for the Super Bowl Feb. 7. The meal costs $12 and includes one pound of pulled pork, baked beans, and coleslaw. ¯ First Congregational Church United Church of Christ (318 Front St. in Marietta) will continue its weekly free breakfast as take-out from 8:30-10 a.m. each Saturday. All are welcome.



¯ The Castle Historic House Museum will present “The Separation of Henry and Sarah Dawes: Marital Discord in Early Ohio” for their first Virtual Third Thursday Talk of 2021 from 7-8 p.m. Feb. 18. This virtual offering is free. Donations encouraged. To register, visit mariettacastle.org.


¯ The Income Tax and Treasurer’s office is currently closed to the public until further notice. A drop box is located in front of the building. All taxpayers with a prearranged agreement should call the office at 740-373-4032 between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. for further assistance or with any questions.

¯ Washington County Auditor Matthew Livengood has begun the process of a state-mandated reappraisal of all properties. There will be appraisers visiting properties throughout the county through the end of 2021. New values resulting from the reappraisal will go into effect Jan. 1, 2023, and will be payable on the 2024 tax bills.
