A former Marietta Middle School basketball coach appeared in Marietta Municipal Court today on six counts of corruption of a minor following arrest on sex crimes by the Washington County Sheriff’s office.

According to the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office, Burke faces six counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, all third-degree felony counts, in four separate cases.

All four cases are expected to be bound over to be heard by a Washington County Grand Jury in common pleas court, with a hearing Monday concluding cumulative bond set at $9,000 between the four cases and including condition of personal recognizance and no contact with the middle school.

Terms of Burke’s bond also include sobriety from alcohol and drugs, mental health and addiction treatment through a local service provider and no entry into a business that sells alcohol.

A preliminary hearing on the cases is scheduled for later this month.
