First Mayhem on Market slated for Saturday

PARKERSBURG — Something new for Halloween this way comes on Saturday on Market Street.

Downtown PKB will hold its annual Monster Mash on Market from 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday, this year as a drive-thru event at Bicentennial Park.

Parents can take their children a drive by Bicentennial Park and pick up a trick-or-treat bag of goodies for each one.

Fun characters will be there to greet them, so dress up and join in on the fun.

Participants are asked to drive down Market Street to Third Street and to stay in their vehicles.

Monster Mash is made possible by Downtown PKB and local businesses who donated items to the trick-or-treat bags handed out that evening and by Dupont and WVU Medicine Camden Clark who sponsored the event.

A new event will be Mayhem on Market Street from 8-11 p.m. Saturday at Portico at 716 Market St., formerly the annex for the Actors Guild of Parkersburg.

Members of the guild will provide spooky entertainment while those attending enjoy incredible Halloween decor from the collection of Portico owner Carole Hanlon.

Costumes are encouraged. A costume contest, Halloween trivia contest and music will be included in the evening’s festivities.

Portico is hosting the event as a fundraiser for the Actors Guild. Admission is $5 and is payable at the door.

A bar by donation will include beer and wine and complimentary appetizers will be served. Attendees must be at least 18-years old.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Portico for this fundraiser,” guild President David Rexroad said. “It’s incredibly generous of Carole to host this event on our behalf, and we think the local community is going to love seeing her amazing Halloween collection. Hopefully, this will be the first of many partnership events between Portico and the Actors Guild.”
