Marietta Main Street announces grants

Marietta Main Street has announced five recipients of the 2021 Fall Spruce Up Grant, a funding cycle in the Build Up Marietta building improvement grants.

The $3,500 fund was made available by the Peoples Bank Foundation and the West Virginia Central Credit Union. The funds went to five local businesses as part of an investment toward building care and maintenance.

The recipients are:

∫ Gator’s Pub, 109 Second St., to replace a garage door to improve employee, utility and business security.

∫ Mid-Ohio Valley Players, 229 Putnam St., for glass window replacement, security doors, lighting and entryway updates.

∫ O’Neill Senior Center, 333 Fourth St., for installing a new awning on the entryway to improve safety of the seniors entering the center.

∫ The Cozy Kitchen, 114 Putnam St., for purchasing outdoor dining furniture.

∫ Wit and Whimzy, 154 Front St., for installation of new signs.

The Build Up Marietta program has awarded $37,727 to 27 projects since 2017. New sponsors and funding opportunities are being sought to continue to fund projects through the program.
