¯ The Operations Committee of the Warren Local Board of Education meet at 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15, at Warren Elementary School, Cafeteria, 60 Warrior Dr., Vincent.

¯The Regular Board meeting of the Warren Local Board of Education will be at 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15, at Warren Elementary School, Cafeteria, 60 Warrior Dr., Vincent.

¯ Reno Area Water and Sewer District will be having its regularly scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, in the Reno Water Office Building, 170 Mount Tom Rd., Marietta. Public is welcome. We will be practicing social distancing and masks are recommended.

¯ Bukeye Hills Regional Advisory Council meeting has been rescheduled. The Regional Advisory Council will meet at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, in the Buckeye Hills office at 1400 Pike St., Marietta.

¯ The Buckeye Hills Regional Council Broadband Committee will meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22 at the Buckeye Hills Regional Council, 1400 Pike St., Marietta. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the potential partnerships, round 4 of the USDA ReConnect program and upcoming Affordable Connectivity plan outreach by the FCC. ¯ The August regular meeting of the Fort Frye Local School District Board of Education has been changed to 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 25, at Salem Liberty Elementary School, 10930 State Route 821, Lower Salem.

¯ The Region 12 Committee of the OneOhio initiative will meet at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 26, in the Anne C. Steele Center at Muskingum University, New Concord. The purpose of the meeting is to establish the OneOhio Region 12 governance structure, adopt the OneOhio Region 12 bylaws, appoint OneOhio Region 12 officers, and conduct other related business.

¯ Grandview Township will hold regular meetings at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the township hall. September meeting will be held Sept. 12.

¯ Muskingum Township will hold regular meetings at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month.

¯ Palmer Township will hold meetings at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the Palmer Community Building, 7153 Ohio 676, Stockport. September meetings will be held on Sept. 8.

¯ The Belpre Township Trustees will hold regular scheduled meetings the first Monday of every month at 335 Baker Rd., Little Hocking. These meetings are open to the public. For more information, contact the trustees at the township office, 740-423-6366.

¯ Warren Township Trustees will hold meetings at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Mondays of each month at the township office, 95 Coffman Rd., Marietta.

¯ Barlow Township Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 8 a.m. on the second Monday of each month at the Township Hall, 567 Warrior Dr., Barlow.

¯ The Village of Lower Salem will meet at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Village Hall for regular council meetings. Area residents are invited to attend.

¯ Decatur Township will hold its monthly public meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the township building on Welch Road in Cutler.

¯ Waterford Township Board of Trustees will meet in regular session at 7:30 p.m. the first Thursday of every month at the township building.

¯ Lawrence Township will meet at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department, Marietta.

¯ The Washington County Joint Vocational School District Board of Education will hold regular monthly meetings at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month in the Annex Building Board Room.

¯ Ludlow Township will hold regular monthly meetings the last day of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall.

¯ Mid-Ohio Valley Citizens Action Coalition will meet the second and fourth Mondays of each month at Freedom Gate Church, Tennis Center Road, Marietta. See the organization’s website for more information.

¯ Watertown Township Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meetings at 6:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month at the Watertown VFD.

¯ Liberty Township will hold regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month.

Events

¯ The Washington County Career Center program year’s policy for free/reduced lunch for students unable to pay the full price of meals or milk served under the national school lunch and school breakfast is available at the high school office. Please contact them at 740-373-2766 x4012 for additional information”.

¯ During the month of August the Free Breakfast will be held only on August 13 and August 27th. The meal is served from 8:30 -10:00 am at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 318 Front Street in Marietta.

¯ Free community meal the fourth Tuesday of every month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fourth St., Marietta. Pickup only, enter through church parking lot from Wooster Street.

¯ Gilman United Methodist Church offers worship at 10:30 a.m., every Sunday, no face masks are required but are available to those wishing to use one. Current CDC guidelines are practiced. Come early to join our adult Sunday school class at 9:15 a.m. Coffee, light refreshments and good fellowship at “Coffee Time” held at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday. A weekly adult Bible study with Pastor Doug Thompson is also offered at 10 a.m. Wednesdays, and 6 p.m. on Sundays. All are welcome.

¯ 13-Week GriefShare program offered at Gilman UMC to start Aug. 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m. We will meet every Thursday in fellowship hall for 13 weeks and conclude Thursday, Nov. 10.

¯ The Frontier Alumni Association classes 1969-1990 is announcing its reunion. The reunion will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, and Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Marietta Country Club. Both nights cost $38. Dinner is prime rib and chicken catered by the Country Club. Friday’s mixer contains a light snack and cash bar. Saturday starts with a cocktail hour; accompanied by a professional photographer, for the classmates, individual classes and is followed by dinner. The band playing is, Loose As It Gets. ¯ Wendell and Cathrine Offenberger reunion #41 will be held at noon Sunday, Aug. 21, at Our Lady of Mercy Society Hall, Lowell. Bring covered dish and item for the white elephant auction. Drinks provided.

¯ The Venham Family reunion will be held at noon, Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Barlow Fairgrounds dining hall building. The theme this year is The Farm. Please bring a covered dish to share and items for the silent auction. Table service and drinks will be provided.

¯ Newport Baptist Church will be celebrating its 200th anniversary Aug. 21. Morning service will begin at 10:30 a.m. A catered lunch at noon followed by praise and worship at 1:30 p.m.. There will be special speakers, special music and a history display to celebrate this milestone in our church history. Please come and join us for this historic event.

¯ The Belmont County Historical Society will be hosting a painting and tea party from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. The event will take place at the gazebo at the Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum, 532 North Chestnut St., Barnesville. The cost of the event will be $50 and all materials, including canvas, will be provided. Pre-registration and payment are required; the deadline for both is Aug. 15. ¯ The Salem-Liberty Alumni Banquet has been moved. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the school gym/cafeteria.

¯ Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., Marietta, will offer a free takeout meal from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the first Friday of each month. All are welcome.

¯ The 82 Zimmerman Reunion will be a potluck, held at, 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Sep. 4, at the Lower Salem Community Hall. Please bring your favorite dishes to share. Please bring dates of 2020, 2021 and 2022 deaths, births, marriages; names of those in Armed Forces and colleges.

¯ Beverly-Center Elementary PTO will be hosting their Second Annual Food Truck Fall Festival on Sunday, Sep. 25. Join us for delicious food, great live music, and shop our over 40 crafters and vendors inside! This fundraising event is from 11a.m. to 4p.m., rain or shine. Located at Beverly-Center Elementary School at 510 5th St., Beverly.

¯ The Washington County GOP will host a golf scramble registration begins at 7:30 a.m., shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., Sep. 30, at Lakeside Golf Course in Beverly. This is a four person scramble/ $300 per team. Package includes greens fees, cart, skins, hot breakfast, in play refreshments and steak dinner. Hole sponsorships are available. ¯ The Zonta Club of the MOV will hold its Delicate for Dignity Fundraiser, Saturday Oct. 8, at Jeremiah’s Coffee House on Front Street, Marietta. Tickets for the luncheon will be $25.00. We will have a guest speaker. We are once again raising money for hygiene products and undergarments for women in our area. We are sponsoring a bra art competition with bra submissions due by Sep. 16.

Health

¯ Gilman United Methodist Church offers a new faith-based cancer support group. Meeting the second Monday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. in the church’s Fellowship Hall at 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch. Classes/Workshops/Programs/Seminars

¯ Zumba classes will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the O’Neill Center. The cost is $5 per class or $25 for six classes. All ages welcome. For more information, call 740-373-3914.

¯ The O’Neill Center in Marietta will host bingo at 9:30 a.m. Thursday mornings. There is no cost at the door to play 20 games, and it is a nickel per card per game. Seating is limited.
