Scary Story – 1st Place: ‘The Secret Under Mary’, Liam Dettorre, St. Mary Catholic

Down by Saint Mary’s School, there is a cave hidden under the Mary Statue. The cave is rumored to trap whoever goes in. The towns people call the cave ‘Devil’s Cave.’ One spooky night a kid named Micheal got curious about the cave. Micheal was new to town and had not made friends yet. He decided the rumors were not true and thought it was a myth. He decided to go down the cave to prove the people wrong… And no one saw him again.

Then a kid named Jimmy thought he heard a scream. Jimmy went down after the person he heard screaming. No one really knew it was Micheal because he had just moved to town. All the town’s people knew was that the new kid went missing. Now both Jimmy and Micheal are missing. Their parents are freaking out. The parents of Jimmy decided to call Ghost Busters.

Ghost Busters came to Devils Cave, but everything seemed normal. Until they heard blood curdling screams. Too bad for Micheal and Jimmy, even the Ghost Busters were too scared to go down. After a moment of silence. The bravest ghost buster, Ray, said he would go down to see what the screams were. However, Ray disappeared forever… No one ever saw those three again.

It is said that Ray, Jimmy, and Micheal have haunted the school for years. Every year on the same day students at Saint Mary’s School can hear screams coming from beneath the school.

They all wanted to enter the baking contest, so they did. They went to go get their ingredients, but every store was sold out of what they needed. The only store that wasn’t sold out was the one in the woods. Nobody has ever shopped there before, but if they did, they never came back out of the woods. When they got there, someone was inside. They knocked on the door. Madeline felt a cold chill go up her body. The door opened and there was a lady inside. As fast as they could they got their ingredients and left. She didn’t want to, but she had to if she wanted to finish her dessert. She went back to the store. When she went inside the lady was cleaning and said, ‘hello I was looking for you and your friends.’ You forgot an ingredient. What did we forget? You forgot skeleton sugar and witches’ oil. Put a tablespoon of each one in your desserts. Madeline took it to her friends and told them to put a tablespoon in each of their desserts. After they finished baking. They gave their Halloween desserts to the judges. The judge said Madeline had won just then her cookies she baked flew right off the platter. They flew right to the lady that they had gotten their ingredients from. The lady said she was a witch. Then out of thin air she disappeared. The judge said she could keep the baking trophy.
