Career Center SkillsUSA elects officers
Washington County Career Center SkillsUSA recently elected its 2024-25 chapter officers. The Career Center representatives are:
¯ President, Travis Morris, is a direct enrolled senior in the Building Technology/Carpentry program. He is the son of Thomas Morris and Colleen Michaels of New Matamoras;
¯ Vice President, Clayton Miller, is a senior from Fort Frye enrolled in the Welding program. He is the son of Jeremy and Michelle Miller of Lowell;
¯ Secretary, McKenzi Farmer, is a senior from Waterford enrolled in the Welding program. She is the daughter of Brent Farmer of Waterford and Erica Rauch of Cutler; and
¯ Treasurer, Mylee Goodwin, is a senior from Marietta enrolled in the Patient Health Care program. She is the daughter of Robert and Dusty Goodwin of Marietta.
SkillsUSA programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the lab and classroom and promote community service. It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and is cited as a “successful model of employer-driven youth development training programs” by the U.S. Department of Labor. The Career Center Chapter, part of a national organization, serves 12 vocational/technical programs, which are Auto Collision Repair & Refinishing, Auto Mechanics, Building Technology/Carpentry, Diesel Truck Mechanics, Electricity, Heavy Equipment, Masonry, Medical College Prep, Patient Health Care, Pre-Nursing, Sports Medicine & Exercise Science, and Welding. Locally there are about 400 Career Center student members.
Across the country, the organization serves nearly 250,000 high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in training programs of trade, technical, skilled and service occupations.
