PARKERSBURG — The Piggly Wiggly in south Parkersburg reopened Tuesday after closing last week due to a mouse infestation.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department issued an inspection report Tuesday saying “all correctable violations have been corrected.”

“The store is continuing to work with a (pest) control company until the issue is completely resolved,” the report said. “Extensive cleaning has been done throughout the store and deli. Only minimal signs of pests still exist.”

The report notes the department will continue to make “frequent, unannounced visits” to ensure proper cleaning continues and get updates on pest control efforts.

District Manager Jeremy Fellure said they have a contract with a local pest control company and that he is in daily contact with their manager.

“We’ve been working with them for some time,” Fellure said.

He said the Southside store has done extensive cleaning that involves removing and cleaning under the kick plates, a protective metal or plastic plate installed at the bottom of the shelves, removing and cleaning behind refrigerators and freezers and using hospital grade disinfectants to “go the extra mile.”

“We’re here for our customers. That’s our number one priority” Fellure said. “They want to feel comfortable and confident when shopping with us. And we want to give that to them.”

Sandyville resident Sharon Miller said she regularly shops at the store and was happy to see it open again.

“I don’t know if I could do without this place,” she said. “They have everything I need.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
