Washington County Behavioral Health Board earns designation
The Washington County Behavioral Health Board has announced that it has been officially designated as an Ohio Recovery Friendly Workplace.
This recognition reflects the board’s commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive work environment for employees who may be affected by substance use disorders and mental health challenges.
The Ohio Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative, part of Governor Mike DeWine’s RecoveryOhio initiative, encourages businesses to adopt policies and practices that support employees in recovery, reduce stigma, and promote overall well- being. Organizations that receive the designation are equipped with tools, resources, and training to create a workplace culture that prioritizes health and safety while helping employees in recovery succeed.
“At the Washington County Behavioral Health Board, we believe in providing our employees with the resources and support they need to thrive, both personally and professionally,” said Tim Hahn, Assistant Director. “Becoming an Ohio Recovery Friendly Workplace is a natural extension of our commitment to the well-being of our workforce and the communities we serve.”
In today’s evolving work environment, creating a recovery-friendly workplace is more than just a good practice; it is a powerful way to support employees, enhance workplace culture, and contribute to overall well-being. The Recovery Friendly Workplace program provides valuable tools for fostering a more inclusive and understanding workplace.
This program helps employers assist employees who are struggling with mental health or substance use issues in seeking recovery by providing necessary resources, such as counseling, flexible work schedules, and access to recovery support programs. By extending this support, employers can create an environment that not only aids in an individual’s recovery but also ensures that employees feel valued and understood.
Key Benefits of the Ohio Recovery Friendly Workplace Designation:
¯Increased employee retention and productivity: Employees in recovery often bring resilience and dedication to their roles.
¯Lower health care costs and absenteeism: A recovery-friendly culture helps create a healthier, more engaged workforce.
¯Reduced stigma: Creating an open, supportive environment for those in recovery encourages transparency and mutual support among team members.
