Washington County Historical Society hosts open house
The Washington County Historical Society Archives Open House will be 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, as the society showcases its finest historical collections.
Located at 346 Muskingum Dr., Marietta, the archives can be found upstairs in the Ewing School side of the Old Children’s Home.
The Open House will display some of Washington County’s rich history and military collections. The military collections include anything from the Revolutionary to Vietnam War.
The family histories room will be available and contains years of information about the Washington County community, allowing visitors to trace back ancestors in the surname files or obituary collections.
The photo room will include a range of photos about events, buildings, places, people and more.
There will be collections about boat and bridge history, churches and schools, maps and so much more about Washington County history.
Local historical writer Ian Hamilton, author of “Robert Lowell, A Biography” and “Lowell, Ohio: History and Memories” will be in attendance.
Refreshments will be available for guests to enjoy throughout the afternoon event and volunteers will be available to provide assistance while exploring the Open House.
