Marshall University, Ohio State partner as service providers
Marshall University’s Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI) is partnering with the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) at The Ohio State University’s South Centers in Piketon to be a service provider for manufacturers and other businesses in southeast Ohio.
The organizations share similar missions, which focus on providing access to university resources including facilities, equipment and expertise. Each has a portfolio of services that help both startups and well-established businesses grow and adapt to market changes. In addition, both offer resources that include quality management training and certification, assistance with access to capital, marketing assistance, access to advanced technology and manufacturing consulting services.
As an official partner, RCBI’s shared manufacturing equipment, design engineering services, prototyping, 3D printing, quality assessment training and other specialized training will be available to manufacturers and businesses who work with Ohio State’s MEP in Piketon.
“We are happy to be part of the impressive network of partners The Ohio State University’s MEP has built to support manufacturers and entrepreneurs,” said Charlotte Weber, RCBI director and CEO. “For nearly 30 years, RCBI has worked with companies across the country to solve their innovation challenges, manufacture parts, design product prototypes and transition to new markets, so this partnership is a natural fit.”
“Formalizing the partnership with RCBI broadens the service offerings through our MEP and ultimately benefits the manufacturing companies of Southeastern Ohio,” said Ryan Mapes, Endeavor Center manager and program leader. “The convenient access to RCBI’s depth of experience and affordable rates for its design assistance, equipment and technology makes this partnership a valuable addition to our network.”
Manufacturers that want to take advantage of the services offered at RCBI will be able to make arrangements through the MEP at Ohio State by calling 740-289-2071, ext. 231 or by emailing Ryan Mapes at firstname.lastname@example.org.
