Meetings

¯ The Washington County Board of Developmental Disabilities will hold a regular meeting at 5:15 p.m. today. The meeting will be held virtually. Those wishing to participate are asked to contact Brenda Riffe at briffe@wcbdd.org.

¯ A special meeting of the Board of Education of the Warren Local School District will be held at 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The meeting will be held at the Warren Administrative Office, 220 Sweetapple Road, Vincent, for the purpose of conducting business relating to the facilities construction project.

¯ Grandview Township will hold 2021 regular meetings at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the township hall. The following months will be held on different dates: July 6, and Sept. 13. These meetings will also be held at 6 p.m.

¯ Liberty Township will hold 2021 regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month.

¯ Decatur Township will hold its monthly public meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the township building on Welch Road in Cutler.

¯ Ludlow Township will hold regular monthly meetings the last day of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall.

¯ Belpre Landing Skilled Nursing and Rural Action will host a Medical Supplies & Equipment Collections Event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at Belpre Landing, 1915 Hill St., off Route 7, Belpre. New and used items may be donated such as wheelchairs, walkers, Cpap machines, wound care supplies, splints, and more; no medications. Stay safely in your car and masked volunteers will assist in taking these items, which will be distributed locally and overseas through MedWish International.

¯ The 2021 Ohio Valley Education Job Fair will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Marietta High School. Fourteen different local school districts and vocational schools will be interviewing candidates for almost 100 different positions. Schools are seeking teachers, substitutes, bus drivers, paraprofessionals, speech language pathologists, and reading specialists. Candidates may register at OVESC.org.

¯ A Spring Plant and Bake Sale from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Matthew & Ferguson Street, underneath the walkway. The sale will include a variety of vegetable plants, flowers, spikes, hanging baskets and goodies at the bake sale. Sponsored by Friends of Selby volunteers. Proceeds benefit Teddy Bear fund.

¯ The Fearing Vol. Fire Dept. will hold its annual Mother’s Day dinner Sunday. The menu includes baked steak and chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and dessert. Coffee and tea included. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Dine-In or carry-out only. Attendees are asked to respect social distancing.

¯ St. Henry’s Catholic Church Annual Mother’s Day Dinner will be held from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday. Dinners will be drive-thru pick-up only. Each meal is $10 and includes chicken breast, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade noodles, green beans, applesauce, a roll, and choice of cake or pie. ¯ The Castle 2021 Season of Historic Marietta cemetery tours will begin at 10 a.m. and noon May 15 with “Align on the Colors! Stories of the Civil War” of Oak Grove Cemetery located at 8th and Washington Streets. CDC and Ohio Department of Health guidelines will be followed. Reservations required via online registration and payment by calling 740-373-4180. ¯ Beverly/Lowell American Legion Posts 389/750 will host Legion Baseball sign-ups at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Fort Frye High School baseball diamond. For more information, call 740-336-4122.

¯ The Castle will hold the cemetery tour “Align on the Colors! Stories of the Civil War” at 10 a.m. and noon May 15. Tour begins at Oak Grove Cemetery at Eighth and Washington, Marietta. The cost is $10. For more information, visit mariettacastle.org.
