Meetings

¯ A Fort Frye Local Building and Grounds Committee meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Friday in the Superintendent’s office at Beverly Center Elementary School, 510 5th Street.

¯ Rural Action will meet from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday for its annual meeting, “Rural Action at 30: What’s Next?” at Chesterhill Produce Auction. Attendees will tour the auction, hear how Rural Action helped the region navigate a difficult year, and discuss the organization’s future course. The event is free and includes live music and lunch. ¯ Grandview Township will hold 2021 regular meetings at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the township hall. The following months will be held on different dates: July 6, and Sept. 13. These meetings will also be held at 6 p.m.

¯ Liberty Township will hold 2021 regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month.

¯ Decatur Township will hold its monthly public meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the township building on Welch Road in Cutler.

¯ Ludlow Township will hold regular monthly meetings the last day of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall.

Events

¯ Marshall Alumni of the Mid-Ohio Valley will host the Big Green Coaches’ Tour at the annual Rally by the River. The Rally will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Buzzie Dils in Vienna (behind Walmart). Tickets cost $20 per person at the gate and free for children 12 and under. Ticket includes food and beverages courtesy of the North End Tavern. All are welcome.

¯ The Castle will hold a Merchants of Marietta Cemetery Tour beginning at 10 a.m. and noon Saturday at Mound Cemetery. Learn about the lives of some of Marietta’s earliest merchants. The cost is $10 and the tour begins at Mound Cemetery, Fifth and Scammel. For more information, visit bit.ly/2ScOy9e.

¯ Salem Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. will host a Mini Social from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at the station, Ohio 821, Lower Salem. The event will include pulled pork sandwiches, fish sandwiches, hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, desserts, ice cream, a 50/50 drawing and gun raffle. Take-out or dine-in. The cost is a donation.

¯ The Francis family annual reunion will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the dining hall at the Barlow Fairgrounds rain or shine. Meat, drinks and table service provided, and a 50/50 drawing will be held.

¯ The Tunnel-Warren Chapel United Methodist Churches will provide free community meals from 5 to 6 p.m. June 10 as drive-through pick-ups in the lower parking lot. The menu includes ham, potato salad, pork ‘n beans, a dinner roll, dump cake, and bottled water. To reserve a meal, call Amy at 740-516-0847. Tunnel UMC is located at Ohio 550 and Coffman Road.

¯ The 39th Annual Friends of Slow Joe British Motorcycle Show and Poker Run will be held June 11 and 12 at Perry County Gun Club, four miles north of New Lexington, Ohio, off State Route 13, Township Road 146. This event is free. For more information, call John at 386-690-2987.

¯ The Gretchen Feldmaier Dragon Boat Society of the Mid-Ohio Valley (MOV’n Dragons) will host a regional clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 12 at the Marietta City Harbor. The clinic is designed to improve skills and safety while dragon boating. For more information, call MJ Ebenhack at 740-434-5638.

¯ The 47th Annual Sarahsville Alumni Banquet will be held June 19 at the Noble County Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and social hour begins at 5:30. Baked steak dinners will be served at 6:30 p.m. by Patty’s Place. The cost is $17 per dinner and $4 dues per alumni. Masks are required when not seated. Tickets for prizes sold at the door. ¯ The Ohio Valley Opry’s first show of the season will be held at 6 p.m. June 19 featuring bluegrass band Midnight Storm, country music singers Gary Swartz, Mike Morrison, Matt Coleman, and The Clark Family. ¯ First Congregational Church United Church of Christ (318 Front St. in Marietta) will continue its weekly free breakfast as take-out from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Saturday. All are welcome.

Classes/Workshops/Programs/Seminars

¯ The Castle will host the free virtual Third Thursday Talk, “Front Page News, a Journey Through Time” by Art Smith, from 7 to 8 p.m. June 17 via Zoom. Art will discuss stories that made the front pages and how the newspaper itself has evolved over the last 150 years. Donations encouraged.

Miscellaneous

¯ The Reno Water Board will hold an election for two trustees for three-year terms from 8 a.m. to 5:59 p.m. June 15 at the Reno Water and Sewer District garage building, 170 Mount Tom Road. Applicants must be a Reno Water customer, own a tap and live in the Reno area. Those who wish to run for one of these positions can pick up an application at the office Monday through Friday from 11 am. to 4 p.m. Deadline is June 8 for applications.

¯ The Children’s Toy and Doll Museum located at 206 Gilman Ave. is now open with new exhibits from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 31.
