Meetings

¯ The Ludlow Township budget hearing for 2022 will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the town hall. Budget may be viewed by calling Jeanetta Berentz at 740-865-3300.

¯ The Palmer Township July meeting date has been changed to 7:30 p.m. July 6 due to a scheduling conflict.

¯ The Marietta Township Board of Trustees will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. July 7 at the Marietta Township Recreation Center, 260 Sandhill Road, Reno.

¯ Grandview Township will hold 2021 regular meetings at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the township hall. The following months will be held on different dates: July 6 and Sept. 13. These meetings will also be held at 6 p.m.

¯ The Marietta High School Class of 1955 has resumed luncheon meetings at 11:30 a.m. the second Monday of each month at the Harmar Tavern, 205 Maple St. All classmates and friends welcome.

¯ Liberty Township will hold 2021 regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month.

¯ Decatur Township will hold its monthly public meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the township building on Welch Road in Cutler.

¯ Ludlow Township will hold regular monthly meetings the last day of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall.

Events

¯ WSCC will host the free Degrees 2 Dollars open house from 5-7 p.m. today in the WSCC Commons in the Main Building at 710 Colegate Drive. Talk with WSCC faculty, staff, and community employment organizations to learn about career prospects, degree and certificate programs, how to pay for college, and more. ¯ St. Mary Catholic School will host Super Bingo Saturday. Doors open at 3 p.m. and bingo begins at 6 p.m. Door prize drawings will be held every 15 minutes from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Free food will be available at 4:15 p.m. catered by The Wrangler Bar & Grill.

¯ The annual Casto Reunion for the descendants of John and Renna Casto will be held July 10 at the Elks Club 477, Colegate Drive. Gathering time is at 5 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring meat, a covered dish, drinks or an item for the white elephant sale. Table service will be provided.

¯ The 75th reunion of the descendants of Nicholas and Philomina Bauerbach will meet at noon July 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Social Hall in Lowell. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish.

¯ The Children’s Toy and Doll Museum will host a Yard Sale Fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 17 at 206 Gilman Ave. in Marietta. The sale will include household items, decor, glassware, yard and garage items, books, jewelry, toys and more. Donations of gently used and clean items (no clothing) for the sale may be brought to the museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. July 13-15.

¯ Dally Memorial Library will host its second Bluegrass Music event for the summer July 17. The Mountain State Bluegrass Express will be performing from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sardis Community Center. Ham, chicken and noodles, scalloped potatoes, green beans, rolls, desserts and drinks will be available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the privately funded Dally Memorial Library.

¯ The 40th Wendell and Catherine Offenberger Reunion will be held at noon Aug. 15 at Our Lady of Mercy Social Hall in Lowell. ¯ First Congregational Church United Church of Christ (318 Front St. in Marietta) will continue its weekly free breakfast as take-out from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Saturday. All are welcome.

¯ The Castle will present Patriots Tour, a special tour of Mound Cemetery, at 10 a.m. Saturday to commemorate the 245th Independence Day. The cost is $10 per person. Advanced reservations are encouraged via online payment at bit.ly/3vQqQ0C or by calling 740-373-4180.

¯ The Castle’s Virtual History Camp: Reconstructing America 1880-1900 will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 5 through Zoom. The camp is designed for third through sixth grade students but is open to those age 18 and younger. Registration for individual sessions or the full week is available. ¯ The Castle will present Cemetery Tours: The Sickly Seasons 1822-1823 at 10 a.m. and noon July 24 beginning at Mound Cemetery, Fifth and Scammel Streets in Marietta. ¯ The Castle will host an interactive tour of Oak Grove Cemetery beginning at 10 a.m. Sept. 4 at Eighth and Washington Streets in Marietta. Learn about the interesting men and women buried there from living history interpreters. For tickets and more information, visit bit.ly/2Srpxrb.

¯ The Castle will present Cemetery Tours: Bringing Forth Those Pioneers at 10 a.m. and noon Oct. 23 beginning at Mound Cemetery, Fifth and Scammel Streets in Marietta. Follow the “Long Blue Line” from the foundation of Marietta College with stories of a few of the people who built it into one of the top institutions it is today. ¯ The O’Neill Center in Marietta will host Bingo at 9:30 a.m. Thursday mornings. Doors will not open before 9:15 a.m. The cost is $10 at the door to play 19 games. Seating is limited; those interested in attending must call 740-373-3914.

¯ Hidden Marietta will host an Anchorage Mansion Tour at 6 p.m. Fridays and noon, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturdays. Miscellaneous

¯ The Zonta Club of the Mid-Ohio Valley is seeking nominations for the 2021 Elizabeth L. Hadler Woman of the Year. This year’s Woman of the Year will be announced at the Chamber of Commerce dinner Aug. 9 at the Dyson Baudo Center. The deadline for submissions is July 26. ¯ The Marietta Area Recycling Center (MARC) has returned to its regular schedule of 24 hours per day 7 days a week. MARC accepts cardboard, paper, bottle glass, steel and aluminum cans and #1, 2, 4 and 5 plastic. Materials need to be sorted into designated containers. To volunteer, call Kathy Ortt at 740-373-3372.
