¯ The Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the lower level meeting room at the Washington County Public Library. Attendees are encouraged to bring something to share that may be of interest to the group.

¯ A Fort Frye Local Schools Buildings and Grounds Committee meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. A Finance Committee meeting will follow at 3 p.m. Both meetings will be held at Beverly Center Elementary School, 510 5th Street.

¯ The Operations Committee of the Warren Local Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The regular meeting of the Warren Local Board of Education will follow at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held at Warren High School, Room 1710/1711, 130 Warrior Drive.

¯ Reno Area Water and Sewer District will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Reno Water Office Building, 170 Mount Tom Road. Public is welcome. Safe distancing will be practiced and masks are requested because of COVID.

¯ The Washington County Democratic Women’s Club will hold its October meeting Oct. 26 at the VFW on Pike Street. Lunch at 11:30 a.m., meeting at noon. All democratic women are invited to attend.

¯ The annual FLEDA (Frontier Local Economic Development Association) meeting has been canceled due to Covid-19.

¯ Grandview Township will hold 2021 regular meetings at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the township hall.

¯ The Marietta High School Class of 1955 will hold meetings at 11:30 a.m. the second Monday of each month at the Harmar Tavern, 205 Maple St. All classmates and friends welcome.

¯ Liberty Township will hold 2021 regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month.

¯ Decatur Township will hold its monthly public meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the township building on Welch Road in Cutler.

¯ Lawrence Township will meet at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department.

¯ Ludlow Township will hold regular monthly meetings the last day of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall.

¯ Mid-Ohio Valley Citizens Action Coalition will meet the second and fourth Mondays of each month at Freedom Gate Church, Tennis Center Road, Marietta. See the organization’s website for more information.


¯ Norwood United Methodist Church will host a drive-thru pick up meal at 5 p.m. today in the alley beside the church. Attendees are asked to enter from Vine Street and exit to Colegate.

¯ Wolf Creek Church of Christ (505 N SR 78 NW, Malta, Ohio) will host a gospel meeting at 7 p.m. today and Saturday, and 9:45 a.m. Sunday with Roger and Jordan Shouse. Roger preaches for Charlestown Church of Christ in New Albany, Ind., and Jordan preaches at Campbell Road Church of Christ in Garland, Texas.

¯ Campus Martius Museum’s annual celebration of our archaeological heritage will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature several speakers throughout the day, children’s activities and displays of archaeological material from private collections. ¯ A benefit dinner for Laura Glover will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Cutler Community Building (former Cutler Elementary). The event will include a gun raffle, a quarter of a beef raffle, auctions, live bands and a country store raffle. Food available to eat in or carry out. ¯ American Legion Post 750 in Lowell will serve a strip steak or chicken dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Meal options include strip steak cooked to order, chicken, baked steak and no meat. All meals come with a baked potato, salad, bun, and coffee or water. For carry-out, call 740-896-3326.

¯ The Ohio Valley Opry will return to the Twin City Opera House in McConnelsville at 6 p.m. Saturday with Dion Pride, son of country music legend Charlie Pride. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at OhioValleyOpry.com, by calling 740-525-9218, or at the door. Doors open at 5 p.m.

¯ Beverly American Legion Post 389 will sponsor a public all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Proceeds benefit American flag displays in Beverly and Waterford.

¯ The Marietta Family YMCA will host its annual Chili Cook-Off fundraiser from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Broughton’s Complex 1, 635-B SR 821. Tickets are $5 and will be available the day of the event. ¯ The Village of Beverly Volunteer Fire Department will be testing and flushing fire hydrants in Beverly and Waterford Oct. 18 and 25. If water becomes discolored, run water until it becomes clear.

¯ The Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Legislative Forum from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday via Zoom webinar. The event is open to the public. ¯ The Pioneer Ladies Civitan Style Show originally scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled this year due to health and safety concerns.

The event has been rescheduled for Oct. 18, 2022. Monetary donations can be sent to: Pioneer Ladies Civitan, 1560 Coal Run Road, Marietta.

¯ Washington State Community College Phi Theta Kappa chapter will host a Constitution Discussion Forum from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Graham Auditorium, located in the Arts & Sciences Building. ¯ The Marietta Area College Fair will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday on the WSCC campus, 710 Colegate Drive, Marietta. Students and parents will learn about two-year and four-year options and speak to representatives from many institutions from Ohio and West Virginia. ¯ Guided lantern ghost tours of The Castle will be held from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Oct. 22, 23 and 29. Tours begin every 15 minutes and last approx. 45 minutes. ¯ The Parkersburg Coin Club will host its 48th Annual Coin Show Oct. 23-24 at the Comfort Suites in Mineral Wells, 167 Elizabeth Pike, off of I-77. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $1, which enters attendees in hourly door prize drawings. Free parking and security on premises. ¯ Tickets are on sale now for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley’s 17th FUR BALL, to be held from 7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 23 at the Elizabeth Sugden Broughton Community Building, Ohio 821, Marietta. Tickets are $45 per person or $400 for a table for eight. The barbecue dinner will be catered by Joe Momma’s Kitchen, with music by The Bash. There will also be a country store and silent auction.
