¯ A Fort Frye Buildings and Grounds Committee meeting will be held at noon Tuesday. A Finance Committee meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 16. Both meetings will be held at Beverly Center Elementary School, 510 5th St.

¯ Reno Area Water and Sewer District will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Reno Water Office Building, 170 Mount Tom Road. Public welcome. Safe distancing will be practiced and masks are requested because of COVID.

¯ Grandview Township will hold 2021 regular meetings at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the township hall.

¯ The Marietta High School Class of 1955 will hold meetings at 11:30 a.m. the second Monday of each month at the Harmar Tavern, 205 Maple St. All classmates and friends welcome.

¯ Liberty Township will hold 2021 regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month.

¯ Decatur Township will hold its monthly public meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at the township building on Welch Road in Cutler.

¯ Lawrence Township will meet at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department.

¯ Ludlow Township will hold regular monthly meetings the last day of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall.

¯ Mid-Ohio Valley Citizens Action Coalition will meet the second and fourth Mondays of each month at Freedom Gate Church, Tennis Center Road, Marietta. See the organization’s website for more information.


¯ The Tunnel-Warren Chapel United Methodist Churches will provide free community meals from 5 to 6 p.m. today as drive-through pick-ups in the lower parking lot. The menu includes a pork chop, mashed potatoes & gravy, baked beans, applesauce, a dinner roll, cake and bottled water. Tunnel UMC is located at Ohio 550 and Coffman Road. ¯ A ribbon-cutting for the historic Barker House paved access road completion will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the entrance to the Willow Island Lock and Dam Facility, 32400 SR 7, Newport Township.

¯ Beverly American Legion Post 389 on 5th Street in Beverly will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. The meal costs $9 and includes fries and coleslaw. Music to follow by Sam Clark from 7 to 10 p.m. Public welcome.

¯ Tunnel United Methodist Church, located at OH 550 and Coffman Road, will host a live nativity from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday. This is a free, drive-through event featuring live animals from the Pampered Pets Petting Zoo and presented by the youth. Donations of nonperishable foods will be accepted for the Western Washington County Food Pantry. For more information, call 740-525-1135.

¯ Oak Grove Vol. Fire Depart. Santa Run will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday through the Oak Grove community. Canned food will be collected and it is asked that donations are already bagged.

¯ The Castle will host Victorian Christmas Tours from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Dec. 16 and 18. Learn the history and legends tied to many modern holiday traditions and decorations. The cost is $10 for adults, $7 for kids ages 13 and under, and free for ages 5 and under. Tours begin every 15 minutes and last approximately 45 minutes. Limit of 8 per group.

¯ The Archaeological Society of Ohio will hold an arrowhead show Dec. 19 in Churchtown, Ohio at the K of C Building. The Society is looking for local collections to display artifacts. Awards will be given to those who have the best displays. Buying and selling of artifacts is allowed and tables for selling cost $15 per table. There is no cost for those who are displaying artifacts and not selling. The event will also include free appraisal and identification of artifacts. ¯ The Castle will host a Solstice Watch from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Dec. 21 at Sacra Via Park in-person or virtually. Wes Clarke will discuss the astronomical alignments of Marietta’s mound structures. The event is free and donations are encouraged.

¯ Gilman United Methodist Church will offer a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7 p.m. Dec. 24. Pastor Douglas Thompson will deliver the message. The church is located at 312 Gilman Ave. in Harmar Village on the west side of Marietta.

¯ The 2021 Christmas Day Feast will deliver meals from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas Day. Meals for pick up will be available at 11:30 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 312 Franklin St. Meals include turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, a roll or bun, butter, green beans, dessert and fresh fruit. ¯ First Congregational Church United Church of Christ (318 Front St. in Marietta) will continue its weekly free breakfast as take-out from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Saturday. All are welcome.

¯ Gilman UMC will open Sunday School for K-12 from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. the first Sunday of each month. Parents are welcome to join the adult class which meets in the lounge or join Coffee Time for light refreshments and to meet the congregation. Face masks are mandatory for children and parents.




¯ African Drum Class will meet from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta Social Hall, 232 3rd St., Marietta. Master Drummer Lawrence Greene will lead the workshop. Suggested donation: $15 to $20. Advance registration required; call Rev. ¯ Zumba classes will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the O’Neill Center. The cost is $5 per class or $25 for 6 classes. All ages welcome. For more information, call 740-373-3914.

¯ The Marietta Children’s Choir will begin rehearsals at 7 p.m. Tuesdays in the Hermann Fine arts building at Marietta College. New members welcome.

¯ The O’Neill Senior Club Potluck and Meetings will be held at 11:30 a.m. the second Wednesday of each month. Dues are $5.00 per year. Bring a sack lunch and drink until further notice.

¯ The O’Neill Center in Marietta will host Bingo at 9:30 a.m. Thursday mornings. Doors open at 8 a.m. There is no cost at the door to play 20 games, and it is a nickel per card per game. Seating is limited.

¯ The O’Neill Center will host a Tech Lab with a Marietta College student from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Fridays to answer questions about new phones, tablets, computers and social media. Space is limited; call 740-373-3914 for availability.

¯ Hidden Marietta will host an Anchorage Mansion Tour at 6 p.m. Fridays and noon, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturdays.
