Leith Run re-opens after flood damage
From staff reports
The Wayne National Forest has announced that the Leith Run Recreation Area in Washington County has reopened for visitors.
The site was closed after a late winter Ohio River flood caused significant damage to the electrical and waste water systems in the campground. The campground had to be cleaned and the utilities had to be repaired before the recreation area was reopened to the public.
“The Wayne National Forest is happy to be able to reopen the recreation area,” said Jason Reed, district ranger for the Athens Ranger District, in a release. “We have completed the necessary repairs to provide a safe, enjoyable site again.”
The campground and group picnic shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Leith Run will be closed for the season on Oct. 15.
