Marietta to be site for gubernatorial debate

From staff reports

Marietta College will host a debate of the two major party gubernatorial candidates on Oct. 1.

The college announced the event Friday. Democrat Richard Cordray and Republican Mike DeWine will debate in the Ban Johnson Arena starting at 7 p.m., said Marietta College executive director of communications and brand management Tom Perry.

The details of the event, such as who will moderate the debate, are still being worked out, he said. The college is providing the venue but the debate is being organized by the two political parties, he said.

According to the college’s website, the debate will be one of three scheduled before the November election and will be broadcast statewide. The other debates will be held Sept. 19 at the University of Dayton and Oct. 8 at Cleveland State University.
