The Southeast Ohio Foodbank, a program of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, is looking to enroll additional seniors living in Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, and Washington counties for its Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP).

Seniors 60 and older making less than 130 percent of the current Federal Poverty Guidelines are encouraged to apply. The program provides monthly food boxes to those who are eligible.

The Policy Committee of the Warren Local Schools Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Monday at the Warren Administration Office, 220 Sweetapple Road, Vincent.

The Operations Committee of the board is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. Monday at the Warren Administration Office.

The next regular monthly meeting of the Washington County Behavioral Health Board will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Washington County Health Department Conference Room, 342 Muskingum Drive, Marietta. In addition, the Public Information and Education Committee will meet at the Behavioral Health Board office, 344 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, from noon to 1 p.m. today. The Program Planning and Oversight Committee will meet at the Behavioral Health Board office on Tuesdays, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. and Jan. 22 at 1 p.m.

These meetings and all meetings of the Washington County Behavioral Health Board and its committees are open to the public.

The City of Marietta has retained TEC Engineering to conduct a traffic impact study and evaluate the effects of a potential closure of Butler Street between Fourth and Seventh streets to accommodate proposed improvements by Marietta College. The purpose of this study is to assess the impacts of this potential closure on the surrounding streets and intersections.

Two public meetings have been scheduled for 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday. Both meetings will be held at The Gathering Place, 127 North Seventh St. TEC Engineering will give a brief presentation on the purpose and need for the study, the anticipated schedule and timeline for this work and general discussion of potential impacts to vehicular traffic, pedestrian traffic and safety, re-routing of traffic, etc.

The Village of Lower Salem will hold its annual Christmas holiday party on Saturday. Soups and sandwiches will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Lower Salem Village Hall. Residents may bring cookies to share if desired. Santa will arrive around 5:30 p.m. with treats for the children. The event is free.
