The City of Marietta has retained TEC Engineering to conduct a Traffic Impact Study and evaluate the effects of a potential closure of Butler Street from Fourth to Seventh streets to accommodate proposed improvements by Marietta College. The city has scheduled a Streets & Transportation Committee meeting at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in Meeting Room No. 10 at the Armory, 241 Front St., Marietta. Ed Williams, vice president of TEC Engineering, will give a presentation on the Butler Street Traffic Impact Study and recommendations. The public is encouraged to attend and there will be opportunities for questions and comments after the presentation.

Knights of Columbus Council 478 will host a steak fry from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 23 at the council hall at 311 Franklin St., Marietta. The dinner will be New York strip steak and the trimmings for $12. Proceeds will benefit the Ohio State Knights of Columbus state campout. Reservations are required by calling Ken Offenberger at 740-374-2943.

Beverly American Legion Post 389 is sponsoring a public breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Proceeds go to American flag displays in Beverly and Waterford. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for ages 10 and under.

The Marietta Wastewater Department will be making a sanitary sewer repair in front of 608 Sixth St., between Washington Street and Warren streets, today, 2019 weather permitting. There will be no parking on either side of the street and through traffic will be limited to allow access of equipment and material. Signs will be posted. The work is expected to be completed by Thursday, however may extend into the following week.

The Ohio University Community Health Program will be held at the Beverly Library from 9 a.m. to noon today. There will be free blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings. Fasting nine to 12 hours before the screening is recommended, but not required.

The Lawrence Township Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department. The board will continue to hold their regular monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month for the remainder of the year.
