The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta, 232 Third St., will host an African drum workshop conducted by master drummer Lawrence Greene from 1to 3 p.m. June 22 in the Social Hall. A personal budgeting and family financial planning class will be offered for free to veterans and families at 6 p.m. Thursday in the conference room of the Vet Service office, next to ALDI on Pike. To sign up, call Bruce Haas at 740-629-1277. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Washington County Fair Grounds will host an Independence Day celebration July 6. Gates open at 11 a.m. followed by a tractor pull at noon. Mini Mods are at 7 p.m. and fireworks begin at 10 p.m. The event will also feature food vendors, amusement rides and games, activities for children and more. Admission is $5 and free for children 10 and under.

Marietta College will host a summer music camp for Mid-Ohio Valley area youth entering the fourth grade through eighth grade from 9 a.m. to noon June 17-21. Vocal and instrumental instruction will be provided, including the ukulele and xylophone. Marietta College Hermann Fine Arts Center is located at 500 Butler St., Marietta. No experience required. The Cutler Community Center located at 4550 Two Mile Run Road will hold a dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. This month’s dinner is hosted by the Decatur Community Association and the meal will include baked steak, two sides, a drink and a homemade dessert. Meals are $7 for adults or $4 for children. All proceeds benefit the Cutler Community Center.
