Ice cream social will be held on Buell Island

The Lowell-Adams Fire & Rescue ice cream social will be held July 20 at 4 p.m. on Buell Island, featuring inflatables, a country store, raffles, bingo and music. Bat handling and ID workshop planned

A bat handling and ID workshop will be held at 1 p.m. July 1 at the O’Neill Center. The course will include information on bat biology and common myths. Headley’s Wildlife Control will also discuss the dos and don’ts of bat handling for homeowners. Call the O’Neill Center to show interest at 740-373-3914.

Little Muskingum Grange annual pull

The Little Muskingum Grange will host its annual pull July 4 at the Little Muskingum Watershed, 22241 Ohio 26, Wingett Run. There will be pony classes for light, medium and heavy weights at 9 a.m. with a farm and miniature pony pull to follow. Chicken and noodles, sandwiches, drinks and homemade pies with ice cream will be available. The event will also feature a country store and 50/50 drawings. Admission is $3 per person; children age 12 and under are admitted free.

Antique tractor and engine show July 4

The Beverly Lions Club will hold its antique tractor and engine show July 4 at 9 a.m. behind Fort Frye High School, featuring food, a gas card raffle and a 50/50 drawing. A flag raising will take place at 9 a.m., a kid’s tractor pull at 11:30 a.m. and a tractor parade at 1 p.m. The Vienna Sky Sharks of Waterford will have model airplanes on display and there will be a pancake breakfast at the Beverly Fire Department from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fireworks are sponsored by the American Legion Post #389, Beverly Lions Club and others.

Free diabetes seminar offered today

Gilman UMC Health Ministry will host a free diabetes community seminar today at 7 p.m. Local chiropractic physician Dr. David Norris DC, MS, DACBN will present “Discover Diabetes: How to reverse it, lose weight without exercise and boost your energy levels.” This seminar is open to the public but seating is limited. Call 740-373-6478 to reserve a seat. Seminar takes place at the Fellowship Hall behind Gilman United Methodist Church at 312 Gilman Ave. in Harmar Village.
