Ohio author and illustrator David Catrow will visit Belpre and Marietta Saturday, hosted by the Washington County Public Library. The first event will be at the Campus Martius Museum from 10 a.m. to noon. Cutler Community Center at 4550 Two Mile Run Road will hold its Third Sunday Dinner from noon to 3 p.m on July 21. This month’s dinner is hosted by the Cutler Men and the meal will include hamburgers and hotdogs, a drink and dessert. Meals are $7 for adults or $4 for children and all proceeds benefit the Cutler Community Center.

Washington-Morgan Community Action is taking applications for backpacks and school supplies for children attending kindergarten through 12th grade. Applicants may apply at the agency office located at 218 Putnam St., Marietta, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Families must be at or under 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines to qualify. Applicants must bring proof of household income for 30 days, proof of county residency, name of school attending in the fall, grade the child will attend, proof of child’s age and Social Security cards of all household members.

Washington-Morgan Community Action is now accepting applications for the Head Start Program for the 2019-2020 school year. Head Start offers seven-hour, six-hour and half-day sessions located in Malta, Marietta, Belpre and New Matamoras. In-home services are also available through the Home Base program. The 74th Beverly-Waterford Homecoming will take place Thursday through Saturday, featuring rides, bounce houses, old-time carnival games, ice cream, cotton candy, a live petting zoo, food and bingo. On Thursday, the homecoming parade will form at 6 p.m. at Waterford Elementary and there will be live country music. Friday will include a garden tractor pull, color run and music by Jessica Jo and Justin. Saturday will include The King of Asphalt antique tractor pull, Little Miss Homecoming announcement, live music by The Palmer Brothers and a prize raffle.
