The Marietta City school district will hold its regular August board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Board of Education offices, 111 Academy Drive. This is a week earlier than the initial scheduled date.

First Congregational Church, 318 Front St., Marietta, will host an indoor garage sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Proceeds to benefit the youth educational trip. Free breakfast will be provided until 10 a.m.

Moss Run Community Church will sponsor a summer picnic on Sunday. Normal church service will end at 11:30 a.m. and the picnic will begin at noon at Joan’s river campground. Follow Ohio 26 toward Marietta for three miles to Joan’s farm on the left; continue past the garage down the field to the river to park. There will be special music by the Clark Family at 1 p.m. and games and activities at 2 p.m. Attendees are welcome to bring covered dishes.

The Cutler Community Center Third Sunday Dinner will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at 4550 Two Mile Run Road. This month’s dinner is hosted by the Western Washington County Seniors and the meal will include chicken and noodles, two sides, a drink and dessert. Meals are $7 for adults or $4 for children. All proceeds benefit the Cutler Community Center.

The Castle Museum will present a program on local art history at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Basilica social hall (downstairs), 506 Fourth St., Marietta. (This is a change from the original 7 p.m. time at The Castle). This Third Thursday Talk is entitled “Local Artists: New Discoveries” and will present new research findings by Wes Clarke of The Castle staff. Tickets are $5 for non-members, $4 for Castle members and are free to Castle volunteers. Visit mariettacastle.org for reservations as space is limited.
