BELPRE — A Belpre man was killed early Saturday morning in a motorcycle accident along Joe Skinner Road near Belpre.

The crash occurred on County Road 51 (Joe Skinner Road) near milepost 1 at around 4 a.m., according to a press release issued by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A 2016 Harley Davidson FXSE/CVO Pro Street Breakout driven by Joshua T. Miller, 28, of Belpre, was traveling southbound on CR 51. The motorcycle failed to negotiate a right curve and went off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail, the OSHP reported.

Miller was separated from the motorcycle and the motorcycle continued and struck a fence. Miller was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Little Hocking Township Volunteer Fire Department, Jerry’s Towing, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Alcohol is said to be a factor in the crash, the OSHP reported. The incident remains under investigation by the Marietta Patrol Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
