The Policy Committee meeting of the Warren Local Schools Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday. The Operations Committee meeting will follow at 4 p.m. Both meetings will take place at the Warren Administration Office, 220 Sweetapple Road, Vincent.

The Aurelius Lodge 308 will hold a pancake breakfast Oct. 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lower Salem Community Hall. All proceeds will go to charity.

The Ely Chapman Foundation semi-annual book giveaway and fall festival will be held Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include thousands of free books, a Second Time Around sale featuring several exercise equipment pieces and other gently used items, and fun games and prizes for children. Food will be available to purchase, including homemade chicken and noodles and Ruby’s famous Texas Sheet Cake. Admission is free. Clean, gently used donations for the sale are requested; no clothing donations.

Fearing Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual turkey and ham dinner at 4 p.m. Saturday at the fire house, located at 1975 Stanleyville Road, Whipple. The menu will include turkey or ham served with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, stuffing and noodles, a choice of dessert and coffee or tea. Admission is $7.50 for adults and $3.50 for children.

The Reno Volunteer Fire Department will start hydrant flushing from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The area is outlined as follows: Beginning at County House Lane up Ohio 7 including all side streets and roads through Reno up to Dimex including Commerce Lane. Customers are advised to watch for discolored water while using water for food preparation, laundry or other water sensitive processes. After flushing is completed, customers who are experiencing brown/discolored water are asked to flush their cold water lines to flush the service line from the main to their point of use in home or business.
